I hope you all had a nice winter break and a great New Year.
Some upcoming activities and opportunities to volunteer:
January 11 - International Day of Action to Shut Down Guantanamo
*** If you work in NYC, use your lunch break to end torture and shut
down Guantanamo.
Noon to 1:30 pm at Foley Square (Worth St. @ Lafayette & Center near
City Hall/Chinatown)
January 15 - Martin Luther King Day
King had a dream and so do we - a dream of a world where war is not the
answer and where justice for is a reality. Write a letter about your
dream and e-mail it to us. We will post them on our website and take
them with us when we visit Senators Clinton and Schumer in D.C. on
January 29. (sign-up for the lobby day here:
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/modinput4.php?modin=121 )
January 18 - the Granny Peace Brigade will descend on Washington D.C.
to lobby against the war.
January 23 - State of the Union Address parties. Host a State of the
Union Address party at your home so you don't have to watch the madness
alone. We will have materials, games and other fun and informative
things to help you with your evening. More information will come soon.
If you are interested in helping to put together State of the Union
party packets, please call the office at 646-723-1749
January 22- 26 - It's time for us to send out our annual membership
letters and we could use some extra hands to stuff envelopes. If you
have some free time between 9:30 and 6:30 that week, please give us a
call and stop by to help (and you can pick up your membership letter to
save a stamp!) 646-723-1749.
January 27 - 29 - UFPJ march, training and strategy sessions and lobby
day (Peace Action New York State is coordinating the lobby day). For
more information and to sign up go to www.unitedforpeace.org
