This summer PANYS is offering a great opportunity for students and
youth interested in peace and social justice activism. We have decided
to sponsor 15 students to attend the Student Peace Action Network 2008
Summer Convergence in Washington, DC. We will cover all the costs for
the trip and the stay in Washington, DC.
Here is what the Student Peace Action Network (SPAN) Summer
Convergence is all about:
It is a national gathering of SPAN chapters (Peace Action student
groups) and other students interested in peace and social justice
activism. It's a fun weekend full of skill sharing, strategizing
sessions, trainings, opportunities to network with other activists,
and free entertainment!
Who:
Open to students and youth of all ages and experience levels. It’s a
great way to get involved with SPAN for the first time as well as for
existing groups to get plugged in with others from across the
country.

students

- Privilege and Oppression in Movements for Change
- Mobilizing for the Electoral Conventions: RNC/DNC Protests
Housing:
Students attending the SPAN convergence will have three housing
options:
1) FREE mass housing at a local venue. You will need to provide your
own bed roll (sleeping bag, linens, pillow, etc.)
2) FREE home-stays, in which you will stay in the home of a local
volunteer throughout the convergence. You will need to provide your
own bed roll (sleeping bag, linens, pillow, etc.)
3) There are two dorm options at Trinity College: The 'Dorm Style'
room has two double beds and one shared bath per wing ($29/night).
Linens are included. The 'hotel style' room has two double beds and a
private bath ($38/night). Linens are included.
Food:
Meals will be provided throughout the weekend and are covered by the
registration fee.

interested in going to the Convergence and/or in what ways you are an
involved and active individual and can associate with the missions of

the sooner the better…
