If you're an IT professional responsible for designing, building,
managing, or supporting a Windows-centric IT environment and you are
interested in systems management and security, then this users group is
for you. Our goal is to build a community in which our members can
discover, discuss, and debate current and next-generation systems
management and security products from Microsoft.

We are planning presentations, labs, and workshops around Windows Server
2008 and Windows 7 technologies and each member of the System Center and
Forefront family of products. Meetings will be held monthly with 2 -- 3
topics discussed at each meeting. Our featured topic this month will be
virtualization with Hyper-V R2 and the agenda for our inaugural meeting is:

*5:30 -- 5:45 Introduction *
A quick introduction to the users group, what we are about, and plans
for building the group's membership.

*5:45 -- 6:15 Overview of the System Center and Forefront Product
Families **
*The System Center and Forefront family covers a wide range of products.
We're going to do a quick overview of each product family and highlight
some of the key capabilities. Microsoft has several new products
launches planned for 2010 which we'll discuss. Feedback from attendees
during this session will help us determine the top products that members
are interested in so we can plan accordingly for future meetings.

*6:15 -- 6:35 Pizza Break*

*6:35 -- 8:00 Building a Scalable, Highly-available, Virtualized
Infrastructure with Hyper-V R2 and System Center Virtual Machine Manager
2008 R2 *
With the recent release of Hyper-V R2, Microsoft is positioned to take
on VMware in the enterprise virtualization market. But you don't have to
be a huge corporation to benefit from the new high-availability features
and robust capabilities of Hyper-V R2. In this session, we'll discuss
how to design, build, deploy, and manage a virtual infrastructure based
on Hyper-V R2 and the benefits that organizations of all sizes can get
from making this investment.
We'll break down and demonstrate a fully functional Hyper-V R2 cluster
being managed by Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 and review each of the
components required to support live-state migration of virtual machines.
Areas of discussion will include storage virtualization, network design
requirements, failover clustering, Virtual Machine Manager, as well as
backup and disaster recovery.

*8:00 -- 8:15 Cool Tech, Announcements, and Giveaways*
Each month we plan to highlight some cool new technology (hardware,
software, or tool) that can help with your systems management and
security needs. We'll also take a few minutes to discuss upcoming events
and announcements that are of interest to the group. And lastly, no
meeting would be complete without a few door prizes.
