The first beta release for the 2.0.x series is now available on PyPi!

As with the alpha releases, we don't ordinarily use the "beta" tag in our release procedure. We're using it now to have extra scope for testing and feedback on the major 2.0.0 release.

The performance bug blocking protobuf support has been fixed and protobuf support restored in this release. Please test out this release on a branch in your repo, and let us know on Slack and/or via github issue if you see any bugs or issues.

Thank you to the contributors for this release:

The second beta for the 2.0.x series is now available on PyPI.

This brings a couple of bug fixes, including better signal-handling with ctrl-c and Pantsd invalidating less often. Some links:
Some folks have been wondering: when will the stable 2.0.0 release be? We're tracking the project here. tl;dr: the main remaining features we're considering are things like Protobuf plugins like GRPC and adding back an improved version of the `bundle` goal. The rest is documentation and polish on things like error messages for typos on the command line.

Generally, even though it's technically a "beta", 2.0.0b1 provides a more polished experience than 1.30.1. For context: if we had not forked 2.0, we would have released 1.34.0 by now.

Thank you for everyone's feedback so far! Please let us know how we can help!
