Fyi: More bad IDEA tonight

My Dear Friends, 

FACT > Eastside area families are still fighting for their schools, to stop a bad IDEA. (Fighting for more than a year, since October 20, 2011.) 

FACT > Eastside families just replaced their District 2 AISD Trustee (Guzman). Mostly for his IDEA actions. 

FACT > 85%+ of Allan ES families transferred AWAY from IDEA-Allan. They did not want it. It was forced upon them.

FACT > 97%+ of Eastside HS families DO NOT want IDEA in their school. I only know of three people. Three out of hundreds. 

FACT > NONE of the Eastside Panthers want Larry Amaro speaking for them. But they don't know how to make him stop using the name and logo that he wants to erase. 

And, 

FACT > We had an EM-PTSA meeting just last night, Monday Dec 10th. We did NOT discuss IDEA at all. The only IDEA-related vote that we have taken was in November 2011. Where we voted to NOT release a public, formal EM-PTSA position on the IDEA proposal! We were waiting for more information. 

(A real shame. As it turns out the IDEA plan will displace our own public high school beginning this Fall, August 2013.) 

Therefore, NONE of the EM-PTSA Officers or any of our Members are authorized to speak AS MEMBERS or OFFICERS of the EM-PTSA about IDEA. Pro or Con. Not even the President. As people, yes. As EM-PTSA Reps, NO! 

So, as an individual, and with-in my God-blessed American right of free speech. I am sharing the following: 

Some Johnston HS ex-students are selfish pigs. Most are not. 

Most Johnston alumni are honorable and generous and wise. And, I still appreciate them very much. I wish that we had more of them supporting our wonderful school and its loving campus Family. 

But, there is a cadre of jerks that continue to attack our existing high school and do not care about the current kids. Shame on THEM. They are having an event tonight and their invitation is below. Notice the name of the future high school. (IF IDEA and the pigs win.) 

But first, emailed remarks from one of the NICE Johnston HS people. And a very impressive person. I thank them by shielding their name. 

Be Aware!  Get informed.  YOUR School could soon be in danger, too.

Also, please post on Facebook, e-mails, etc. to tell others to tune in and record. EAST AUSTIN SPEAKS ON IDEA ALLAN WHAT: The East Austin community that brought the Austin Independent District's IDEA Allan program to Allan Elementary School will discuss the IDEA Allan program on live television. After Johnston High School was repurposed, the IDEA Allan program was brought in to assure that students would stay at or above grade level by the time that they would enter the Johnston campus. Parents at Allan will reveal how the program is working with their sons and daughters. The program will be streamed live on the internet at https://community.channelaustin.org/watch/streaming16 Persons in the Austin area can watch on television via Time Warner, Grande, or AT&T U-Verse. WHY: Some Austin Independent School Board members have stated that they want to look at the AISD-IDEA Allan contract to consider changing the contract. This consideration came at the AISD work session last week on Monday 12-3-12 and will be discussed for action at the next regular board meeting on Monday 12-17-12. Some new members of the board campaigned to have a more transparent board and that there should be more community engagement, however, this idea to change the IDEA Allan contract means that the board may vote on a measure withing a two week period that gives no time for community engagement.
