EM-PTSA ~ Back to School Calendar

Hello, Eastside Friends! ~

Wow!! This is going to be a wonderful school year!! 

Attached are a couple of documents that demonstrate the planning and commitment that our PTSA has made through the summer to build up spirit and partnerships at our campus. The "Plan Cal" is a list of ideas for the year. It has NOT been finalized, yet. 

Please join us at our first General Members meeting this Thursday August 9th, from 4:30pm-6pm, in the library of Eastside Memorial HS at the Johnston Campus. 

And, Saturday Aug 11th, 9am - Noon, in the Cafeteria, we are honored to host the next meeting of the Austin Council of the PTA (ACPTA). 

Saturday, August 25th is our Panther Preview festival at EMHS from 10am-1pm. It is a back to school celebration for our Students, Parents and other campus family members.

Monday, August 27th >> AISD goes Back to School.  Be very careful around School Zones. Everyone will be distracted by first day concerns. Please Hang up to Drive.  :-D

Requests from EM Staff >> 

     Lauren Shipman has been our dedicated Cheer-Leading Sponsor, but since her schedule is changing, She is hoping that someone else is eager to step up as their Sponsor, and that even more parents will come forward to support the team. Quote: "The girls and I have worked really hard to get them uniforms and a camp this summer. It has been my goal to pass along a well-prepared squad to the next sponsor." ~ Lauren S.

     Alan Guckian already has the Band practicing. !!! Daily from 9am - 6pm this week and next. And 5pm - 9pm the week before school.!!!  They have plenty of water. But more snacks like peanut butter crackers would be welcome. And the Students are on their own for lunch. It is fair to guess that some of the kids don't always bring a lunch. (Larry Amaro brought this to our attention!) Helping them is a topic for Thursday's PTSA meeting. 

     Coach Crayton says that football practice will begin Monday, August 13th. Probably 7am-Noon Mon-Thursday. 

     I am still seeking training info from the other teams.   

Please pass along any info that needs to be shared. I want to support all of our hard-working campus family. 

You may want to print the calendar, this time. I was able to include information on activities that repeat through the fall.  So, I expect to abbreviate the information, as it repeats. I went ahead and included notes through September. I will update the information, as warranted, on later posts.
