I was reading a post on OpenRemote and found panStamp which seems very interesting.

However, I struggle to figure out if you really need to be a developer (since I'm not, more of an computer geek) to get the basic things working? I'm looking to do some basic stuff like turning on/off lights, reading temperature and some basic sensors like checking if a window is closed or not.

To tell you about my experience today. I'm using OpenRemote to control my IR-devices using the Global Cache iTach WF2IR and control some lights using Nexa RF-transmitter (here's how I did it: part1, part2). So very basic stuff, but I want to take it to the next level. I'd be happy to give it a try and blog/write articles on how to get it working but maybe panStamp is a little bit in the deep end for me? :)

Hi JB,

panStamp was designed with different practical scenarios in mind. Your
skills and willing fit very well in one of these scenarios. In fact,
panStamp can be used with any of the sample applications without
having to touch a single line of code. So for example "bininps" gives
you multiple binary inputs (windows and openings status, push buttons,
binary sensors, ...), "binouts" gives you up to 8 binary outputs and 4
PWM outputs (light control, ...). "temphumpress" for
temperature-humidity-pressure measurements and so on. Moreover, if you
don't want to wire your own board, you can purchase from our store
some of our ready to use mother boards.

In the meantime, new sample sketches (for panStamp) are in the
works... BTW, feel free to post your questions in our community forum:

(this mailing list is somehow deprecated ;-) ).

Best regards,

I've continued the thread here, please feel free to answer :)

PS. I just thought these mailing list had more posts and was more active. Maybe possible to write-protect the Discussion Group in Google Code? DS.
