Hello, I am trying to set up my wireless 8600 on my network, but find that even the factory defaults were locked by the system administrator. The administrator is my ex... Can someone tell me how to unlock it so I can use the wizard to get it on my network? Thank you!
Where is the "Support Menu" or the icon for that? I saw further down in the loop even though you can't see the Go Back button to hit it 5 times in a row but then I don't see anything that says Support Menu
well after several attempts and further research. This is a hidden button as well. Just keep clicking and it will show up. Yahoo printer is now connected to my new Modem. HP You should not have hidden buttons, nor should you set up an ADMIN lock automatically.....Other than that I love my HP 8600.
I installed gnome-control-center in order to set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer and followed the "normal" route for adding and configuring my network printer. When I fed the IP address to gnome-control-center, it selected the model as "HP Officejet Pro 8600, driverless, cups-filters 1.27.4". This procedure resulted in a config that looked good at least until I tried to use it. At that point, the printer started spitting out lots of blank pages, a few of which had random nonsense on them.
After power cycling the printer, a "new" printer showed up in the printers-localhost window, this one claims to have a model of HP Officejet Pro 8600 (that wasn't even an option when I went looking). However, it still prints rubbish.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to get this thing to print something useful instead of rubbish. I run this printer, autoconfigured by the gnome tools, from other Ubutnu desktops without these problems.
HP OfficeJet 8600 no longer prints. Worked before the latest OS 11.0.1 update and I have since updated the Drivers (2.10.0.201112) and Firmware (2011A). I get the "Printing - Waiting for printer to become available." and nothing happens. Any ideas?
If Mac updates their operating system should't they also take care of the relationship with the printers??? Yes, I understand that we are dealing with HP but I find Apple's lack of concern disturbing to say the least.
Yep - running Big Sur 11.1 Beta (20C5061b). Same problem. I tried everything - resetting the printer to factory defaults, changing the USB connection to different hubs (this is for a USB-connected version), uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Drivers.
On a lark I booted Windows 7 under Mac OS using VMware Fusion - and I'm able to print from Windows (with the same physical USB connection). It's got to be the HP driver on Big Sur. I'm going to submit a bug report but don't hold your breath.
Bingo! I had tried that earlier, but messed up getting the right driver for the AirPrint add. I had to add it by hammering the IP address of the printer - guess the 8600 doesn't comprehend Bonjour(?). Anyway, I now have a printer called 10.0.0.94 that works :)
My computer locked up hard so I had to restart it and when it finally rebooted the lack of printing problem is back. I was unable to select the "Reset Printing System" because it is grayed out. I did go through the deleting everything/anything HP, restarted the computer and then added the printer back. Still do not have the option to "Reset Printing System" because it is grayed out. Thank you anyway. Still fighting this problem.
I just tried that. Still "Waiting for printer to become available". Restored to factory defaults, Reset the printing system, still not working. I would replace the printer, but I'm hoping HP will update the driver to OS 11.
It doesn't work with USB cable connections for me, but does work over AirPrint. :/ I noticed macOS' dmesg showed a lot of "HP Device Monito@: AppleUSBHostUserClient::openGated: could not open provider IOUSBHostInterface. provider already opened for exclusive access by HP Device Monito". Without HP's softwares and drivers installed, I don't see these lines.
Before I give away my dead HP Officejet 8600 Pro for recycling, I want to ensure that no memory remains on it. Even after extensive research, it's not easy to find conclusive information on whether a home printer retains memory or not (and if it does retain, how much). Supposedly the printer has 64 MB of built-in RAM, but when I crack open the printer and look at the circuit-board I do not see anything that looks like RAM or memory storage. Does anyone know where it is or what it would look like?
The printer is an inkjet printer. Many inkjet printers don't have memory that can be replaced, serviced or expanded by the user. The memory of the Officejet 8600 is fixed 64 MB, so it is soldered to the printer's mainboard directly and you can't remove it.
I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer N911g. I have just gotten a T-Mobile 5G Gateway router set up with 2 networks: one with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (dual band) and one with just 2.4 GHz - WPA security. When I attempt to connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz network, it fails with the issue "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router". IT IS NOT - my understanding is that there is no filter (option is set to ALL).
I have reset this network several times, updated drivers, ensured the security settings are proper, rebooted the computer several times. I have connected several other devices to this network (iphone / ipad / desktop) without issue so this is a tad frustrating. Is there other possible settings?
Only thing that worked for me was to download the HP Smart app, regardless of any other printing apps and programs, newer HP printers, in my experience, will only connect to and communicate through that app. I downloaded it on my phones (Google Pixel 6a, Motorola One 5g Ace and Samsung S10) and my laptop which is a Dell. My phones haven't had any issues connecting unless the printer is sleeping hard ? and doesn't want to wake up. My laptop likes to make me switch my wifi connection to the one the printer broadcasts to complete the job. I do find this slightly odd since the printer has no USB connection option and should be a simple Bluetooth connection, not through the wifi ssid.

The primary difference between inkjet and laser printers is that inkjet printers use ink. They are great choices for low-volume printing for occasional home or office use. Laser printers use toner and dry ink powder, and they are well suited for high-volume printing. They are often used by businesses.

To replace the ink cartridges in the HP Officejet Pro 8600, open the ink cartridge access door, wait for the carriage to stop moving, and then remove the old cartridges. Insert the new cartridges and close the access door to complete the replacement process.
I recently purchased an Orbi RBK43 to cover 6,000 sq in house. I had to replace an older Netgear N600 that lost ability to communicate with a Netgear WiFi extender (the extender went bad as well). In my home office, I have my main computer running Windows 10 Home with all Windows updates, hardwired into the network, and have a DSL modem (Netgear Model 7550 from Frontier), the Orbi RBR40 router, and a Netgear switch. I also have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 All in One printer connected to the network/internet wth an ethernet cable.
