I have my students take photographs of various locations (a church, a park, body of water, downtown area, etc) and map them into Panoramio. Some have started creating 360 panoramas. Next semester I will be requiring my students to create between 5-10 panoramas, but I'm looking for suggestions as to what else I can require them to do.

Has to be somewhat simple but expanding upon the potential of Earth. These are intro students, too, so I really don't want to do anything requiring coding.

As I said before they should read the Photo Acceptance Policy, the TOS and the Private Policy before opening their individual accounts.

Could you add them as favourite photographers so we can all view their photos?

Thanks

360 Panoramas seems to be becoming a bit boring! Why not try "blocks". These consist of 4 photos that compliment each other of opposites. Examples are seasons, elements (water, sand, stone, ice) or scenes (mountain, valley, flatlands, water). If you are city bound try buildings, (residential, commercial, industrial and structural)

Just a thought!

Hi Keith

What age are your students and what are they studying under you?

College, geography...I try to get them out exploring a little bit, using Google Earth, using the Panoramio app on their phones or manually mapping.

@Keith

You seem to be more interested in defending your stance in another thread than replying to my question which you have totally ignored. A question, Keith, which by the way could hardly be described as vituperative.

I wonder if you don't want Panoramio users to view the work of your students.

I agree; give us the links and let us see the photos. Older users (like me) might be able to learn something from the young creative minds of students. By the way, if they are students of geography, let them shoot views of geological formations, rock types, seasonal changes. If I remember students correctly, they should be able to come up with ideas themselves instead of being spoon-fed.

Keith wants to use Google Earth as his own private teaching aid , to the detriment of other Panoramio users. Then , to add insult to injury , he has the audacity to ask us to do his work for him by thinking of projects he can set his students.

If you're doing 360 panoramas, photosynth will be more useful to you and your students than GE.

There might be legal reasons for not doing that, as some of his younger students may be under the age of 18. There are significant ethical and legal limits on any aparent relationship between students (especially minor students) and teachers in the U.S.

So, is he hidding the nature of his relationship with students?

Photograph something which is described by the place name.

So places in Chicago to photograph:-
Elgin photograph marble
in Cicero photograph something Roman
in Lyons photograph a teahouse
in Inverness photograph a monster
Mt Prospect a good view

ps Tell them you'll only give one mark per photo of the same thing.
