Adding photographs to groups is just too painfully slow

The add to groups feature needs to be simpler to use.
A function similar to adding tags to a photograph would work better than the current arrangement, which frankly does not encourage me to join any group, as it's far too much work to add my photographs.

When looking through groups it is better if photos added by one person are spread out to prevent long sequences of similar photos. So if it is made easier to add photos to a group they should not all be added in large blocks. It makes looking through a group's photos more interesting if they are mixed up with a variety of styles. So one danger of allowing users to add large numbers of photos at the same time is that the group will get less interesting if they all end up in a sequence in a group. So if adding to groups is going to be made simpler and faster then when added the photos should be distributed throughout the group.

Surely the spreading out of a users photographs throughout a group should be a function of the site. Simply making it more difficult for users of groups to add photographs is a fine example of the "Tail Wagging the Dog".

I would agree for a faster add photos to group method..  I know you can add up 100 photos at a time, and when you got thousand of photos to go through adding a couple of hundred to a group is possible.  When adding only 100 photos at a time though is a pain, I can deal with the current process though.  The real challenge is picking back up where you left off when adding over 100 photos..  My suggestion would be for a better navigation option during the adding process.  Something like a scroll bar under your photos to add.  You can still keep the left and right buttons, but clicking through those photos when going back in your gallery history could result in a few thousand clicks, to pick back up where you left off to add more..

The new team has asked the moderators to send  issues (from all users) that should be addressed by them. This was one of them, I hope they will pick it up. Thanks Adam

What would be a good method, would be to add using tags.

So for example, I want to add photographs to a group whose photographs of choice are Windmills.
I tag my photographs of windmills, then add them from the tag. Simples.

Benefits are
My photographs are tagged, always helpful.
My photographs are added to the group with just a few clicks rather than hundreds.

Personally until Panoramio resolve this issue I won't be adding any more photographs to groups, it just takes too long.

As a member of more than 200 groups, the owner of about 10 groups, and moderator in a handful more, I am not the least bit interested in making adding photos to groups faster.

 

What I do support is maing it easier to selectively find appropriate photos to add (such as by tag or by title), then add those photos. 

 

Too often, I've seen someone add hundreds of of photos to a group, a few of which may be relevant, because it was already too fast and easy to do so.

Tom, I´d like to disagree with you there. I think because it is difficult to add the right ones many user adds everything that comes under his cursor. If you can isolate a certain part of your photos to upload to groups, only the ignorent users will keep adding everything they have.

I guess, OP had on mind some temporary technical difficulties with groups (I had same issue on that day... It took ages till list of used groups was expanded on photo page, so as all management functions.
