These cows and their handlers march through Matten, Interlaken in traditional dress on summer evenings with their cowbells clanging in traditional Swiss style. I was sitting in the middle of a pedestrian crossing to get this shot - the guy behind me was concentrating so hard on his viewfinder that he got quite a shock when the cow on the left lumbered over and blew in his ear

Cows are fun -- they either run away, or they come as close as they dare to stare at you. I once had a small clump of yearlings staring at me through a fence. Three others farther away suddenly noticed they were missing something and came thundering up at full speed. They shouldered their way to the front panting and snorting ... and stared at me (that's the first photo). I was the big excitement of the day.
