I want to delete my migrated Panoramio photos from Google Maps as they are not gathering views

I believed if I deleted my Panoramio account all the migrated photos would disappear from Google Maps, they did not. (On Google Earth the photos have disappeared but still show the text associated with the photo when I hover over the thumbnail - I'm sure this will clear in time and doesn't concern me.) I click on the three dots on the thumbnail on GM, then click on 'Delete this photo', and I get a message on the bottom of the screen 'Deleting this photo failed. Please try again', the same thing happens over and over. When I upload the same photo to GM they begin to gather views. I have a number of migrated photos I would like to delete. Can someone help me, please?

Hi Renata,

My guess - the source photo (main record in the database) is deleted (or marked as "deleted"), but this change is not yet propagated to all the places, where the photo was used. So this "cannot delete (already deleted) photo" error message may be what you want to get. ;-)

Probably it will be corrected "itself" and your photos will disappear also from GM within some time. Possibly at the time, when they start migration of Panoramio photos into user's "Album Archive".

But as I see... Google has always some aces in the hand to surprise us - either with something great or awful. The way how Google has stopped Panoramio is the second case.

Thank you very much for your help. I guess time will tell, I'll have to be patient. 

Thank you also for answering something which I was also wondering about - the location of my Album Archive, now I know it has yet to come.

I agree, the demise of Panoramio was heartbreaking. So many people put so much of themselves into their work, but one thing Google can't take away is the friendships we have made through Panoramio. Now that we've had the awful, maybe now it's time for something great.
