WOW! Step forward!
Definitely the better way how to explore photos from a specific location... better than the method presented on Google Maps (bottom photo strip).
Fits into "web clients" roadmap...: Google Earth.exe application is abandoned (I noticed, also GE.exe links to National Geographic materials work no more and are not updated), go ahead with web clients!
BTW & AFAIK, mobile version of GE app for Android has been regularly updated with Panoramio photos even before.
And GE web client is probably the clone of Android version, so here we go.
But exactly:
- not all photos are there. I see no pattern in photos included/not included.
- I can see the difference in the photo sets included in Web and Android GE version
- No way how to highlight your photos (or photos of any user)
- KML and KMZ files from Panoramio are not supported
- Also the "grouping" of photos behind one "bubble" is not fully transparent:
- No way to determine how many photos (and what) are behind one bubble.
- The photos are "shared" between distinct bubbles. So by visiting photos on some bubble you can see same photos you have seen within other bubble nearby.
+ Larger KML files supported (which were rejected by KML layer importer on Google Maps), but each element in deeper levels has to be made visible (checked) manually.
