I'm making this posting to take a stand against the new 'see no evil, hear no evil' policy that Panoramio has adopted for copyright violations. Your help is needed to take down yet another blatant picture thief and eventually change this ridiculous policy...
Please have a look at user Cao Lary
This user has 1557 pictures and at least ten different cameras
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D7000
Canon EOS 5D Mark III
Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Apple iPhone 4S
EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY KODAK EASYSHARE M340 Digital Camera
SONY DSC-P72
EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY KODAK V550 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA
NIKON E3200
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D5000
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D3
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D70
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D700
NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D80
SONY DSC-H2
Needless to say this user is a big fake that is stealing "his" pictures from the internet.
A lot of them come from Wikimedia
Some come from blogs
or even respected photo agencies like Caters News Agency
All this information means nothing to Panoramio/Google who hides behind the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act): they will only take action when the original photographer files a DMCA complaint. Actually, they want multiple complaints to take down this gallery.
So I've decided to play the game Panoramio wants us to play and I've contacted a number of photographers with this message:
Dear Madam/dear sir
Panoramio/Google will only take action when you file an official DMCA complaint at
I'm advising you to do so.
Kind regards
I'm inviting everyone to do the same. Google Reverse Image Search (and its plugin for Chrome) will help you find the original photographers. Send them a note asking to file a DMCA complaint and help take down this thief.
PS: for the record, here's my feedback: this DMCA policy sucks! So yes, this is in the right categorie ;-)
