First of all, let me be clear that i am a fun of Google products. I think that is understandable for the people to resist the idea of something new getting in their lives (Google Views), but i also know that you don't change something that is working, stable, growing and is simple (Panoramio). Panoramio is also a community and not just a simple site, and therefore we developed a bond with this community.
Lately i'v seen a lot of problems with Panoramio (mixed-up photos, photos not showing in GE after approval, photos that after a long period of time they haven't been reviewed) and is logical to conclude that Google is not paying so much attention to Panoramio community. Which makes to wonder what if Google tomorrow decide to close Google+ and don't take notice the users in it?
I therefore suggest (challenge) Google to make a poll that it will be visible to the Panoramio site and let the people to decide if they want to migrate to Google Views or stay in Panoramio. I know that Google is an broadminded company and this it will be the least that it will do, if the people's opinion maters to them.

After more than 10,000 signatures, the petition was closed. We do not know what became of it from there.

Yes i know that. And forgive me if i am wrong it was 15000 signatures. But i am talking for a poll not by a external site, but from Google itself in the panoramio site. If that is possible. I don't know...

I am saying that because a lot of people didn't knew about the petition in Change.org. I had to notice at least 5-10 of my friends to sing that petition. But if Google made a poll inside the Panoramio site, i think that the numbers should be much-much higher.

Why would Google do this?  Google knows (or at least is under the impression "we know") what is best for... whom?

Yes i thought of that, That's why i refer to my suggestion as a challenge to see if their decision is compatible (or approved) by the Panoramio community, and to finally see the true numbers. Sometimes i wonder if anyone from Google reads this forum. Don't they see that their decision has a negative impact?

Since late September 2014, there is no feedback from Panoramio team and Google. See last official posts in this forum by Evan Rapoport (Panoramio & Views), James Therrien (Google Geo Community) and Brian McClendon (Google Vice President, Google Maps). If there is a kind of panic in the lower deck of the Google boat (and I believe there is no total ignorance, previous posts are the evidence), it is not shown publicly. One of the rules how to keep panic under control: don't show you are in panic.
