I'm looking for help with a certain aspect of layers adjustment in Photoshop.

Assume I have two layers in Photoshop that are identical except for global tone and contrast. I prefer the tone and contrast of one layer over the other and want to match the two layers. If possible, can you help me understand how to 'auto-match' the tone/contrast between the two layers? I work regularly with adjustment layers, luminosity masks, and other relatively advanced Photoshop edits but I can't seem to match the tone/contrast of these two layers to my satisfaction with what I know.

Greatly appreciating any ideas you may have ...
