Hi

Has anyone used lens bands to prevent zoom creep?  Are they any help?

Thanks!

I think Kevin asked this last year. I'm sure he'll have some advice when he sees your question.
My Nikon 18_200mm suffers from creep if tilted vertically up or down , but I've only rarely found myself in a situation where it was annoying so I haven't bothered trying to find a solution.

I did in fact ask this same question some time ago. It was also my Nikon 18-200 that caused me to look for an answer. But that lens has a zoom lock (switch) on it that I simply got in a habit of using any time I was walking around with the camera dangling from a strap. I also saw the lens bands but figured they would annoy me more than help me so I never purchased one. Sorry I'm no help on this one.

I've no creep on my Nikon 18-105 so no help on that side. Did you read this one? http://lensband.com/diy/

If your zoom creep problem is solely when walking around with your camera rather than in shooting vertically , then using a camera strap that attaches to the tripod screw may help. They are especially useful for larger lenses that have a tripod collar. Attaching the strap to the foot brings the outfit more into balance allowing it to hang horizontally. This also reduces strain on the lens to camera mounting point.
Black Rapid is the best known brand but there are much cheaper imitations that do the job equally well. http://www.blackrapid.com/
