starling in the rain

This had the potential to be a very nice shot. The bird seemingly enjoying a shower makes a nice change from most bird photos. Starlings are a much maligned bird because they are so gregarious and common but they have beautiful feathers which the rain is helping to show off.
Unfortunately there are a couple of things that detract slightly. Firstly it isn't as sharp as it ought to be. Secondly , there's an out of focus branch intruding across the frame and slightly obscuring bird's feet. I also get the impression that the photo isn't quite straight as I've never observed a bird standing at that unusual angle.
