Hi Everybody, |
|
Panoramio Secret Photographer Challenge (SPC) 66
Hello from Toronto, Canada.
My name is Tomas (tomros)
and I will be the moderator of this July/August 2014 SPC 66.
Topic of SPC 66: "Passages". Duration: July 15 - August 9, 2014
There are at least 10 meanings for the word passage in the English language. Only one is appropriate for this contest:
A way, as in a hall or lobby.
My recent trip to Europe reminded me how beautiful some public areas, interior passages can be.
Of course in my city Toronto, these places are almost a necessity, as the winter here is tough and long, so you have to hide from the elements. In fact, you can walk underground for hours and miles here. Not only the cold we can hide from, but in the tropical heat air-conditioned mall is more popular than the beach.
- Accepted are images of indoor shopping malls, subway passages (see below for exceptions), atriums or even large hotel lobby, foyer (think big), vestibule.
Black & White, Sepia or colour images are all OK. People are of course accepted, after all, it is a public place, but they should not be prominent part of the image.
- Not Accepted are Churches, places of worship as that was already a topic in the past.
- Also do not use images of subway platforms and escalators, railway halls, as that represents another topic again.
- No doctored photos, composite of many photographs put together to make a picture, or objects being electronically duplicated, mirrored.
Photoshop and other software adjustment are allowed, but do not go overboard. Technical wizardly should not overwhelm the subject.
All Panoramio photographers are invited to this photo challenge, where favouritism and requests for votes will not be deciding factors. Photographers are not revealed until after the voting period ends.
Post your entries, View and vote at the Rob's Panoramio games machine:
Max 3 entries as per the Entry form! http://votingmachines.panoramiogames.com/entry-submit-form.php?contest=SPC. You have to log-in first.
Photos cannot have borders, frames, watermarks or any kind of recognizable mark.
No titles, no comments, no mapping, no camera data. (this is probably taken care of with Rob's program)
All entry pictures must not already be on Panoramio.
All users are invited to contact the moderator, if an entry photo is seen on any Panoramio page.
If a photo is found to have been published anywhere on Panoramio, it will immediately be disqualified from the contest. Of course, use only your photos.
The MM may choose to reject your photos, and request that you make the changes or submit another image.
Entry period: July 15 to July 31, 24:00 Toronto time
Voting period; August 1 to August 9, 24:00 Toronto time

Secret Photographer Challenge (SPC) 69
Hello from Germany!
My name is Martin (Martin Beitz) and I am the moderator of the SPC 69 that will take place from the 15th of October to the 9th of November.
The theme of this months challenge is dormers (italian: abbaino, french: lucarne, spanish: lucera, german: Gaube).
If you're not familiar with the word, you can find some examples in the comments thread.
If you live in Europe it will be easy to capture them since nearly all older buildings have dormers. The aim of dormers is fresh air and of course to enlarge the room, but to keep it worldwide, I've decided to include small roof towers and (for the persian-arabian areas) wind towers as well.
I ask you to stay with the topic so please avoid
- roofs without dormers, especially chimneys
- cityscapes or photos of buildings with very small dormers
- doctored photos (especially several photos that are combined to one new or to a collage)
If your not familiar with the rules please read the first posting (by Rob).
The most important rules are:
- the photo has to be unpublished within Panoramio
- the photo should not be uploaded to Panoramio/Google Views until the voting process is over
- use the upload machine that will remove the exif
- try to avoid clues where the photo took place / who made it (like watermarks, city names and so on)
- don't upload photos that you don't own
- you have to limit the file size to one Megabyte
- you can upload three photos
Send me a note (PM or Discussion forum) when you find violations of that rules. I will contact the person and try my best to find a solution then. This also may include a disqualification.
Entry period: October 15 (00:01 Berlin time) to October 31 (23:59)
Voting period: November 1 (00:00) to November 9 (23:59)
And don't forget: this is meant to be fun. So the best way would be to go through your city and discover it from a new perspective, the perspective of Johnny Head-in-Air.
SPC- has finished, view the Top Ten or see the Results in detail. |
Also, for the next Monthly Moderator, there is this Guide. |
Hi Everybody, The voting process is over. The winner of SPC #69 is gezginruh with the photo #7 from northern France. Congratulations to a well deserved victory and we all hope you've got a nice idea for the next SPC. Thank you all for taking part in the competition, for the votes and a big thank you to Rob and Daniela for their advice. |

Hi I’m Füsun (gezginruh) I am really excited and happy about the results. SPC and VMC!
Thank you to all who have voted for my photo. It is a great honour for me. Congrats to the first five.(patano, maria grazia gaggero,Martin Beitz)
I will announce the next theme as soon as possible.
Best wishes. Füsun
A working museum piece covers a vast range of subjects. Anything which is old enough to be in a museum being used for pleasure. For example old cars, airplanes, ships, bicycles, toys…
It does not have to live in a museum! It should not be difficult to go and find three old things being brought to life for fun, maybe some old toys from your childhood...
Hello everybody,
VOTING PHASE is open until December, 9th, at 00:01 Central European Time
Hello everybody,
SPC has finished, view the Top Ten or see the Results in detail. |
Also, for the next Monthly Moderator, there is this Guide. |
Hi Everybody, |
|
Hello Everybody!!May I say a big 'Thank You' to everybody who voted for me in this contest, congratulations to Franco for an excellent second place, and a very special 'thank you' to Gezginruh for organising such a nice competition. I am very honoured to have won!As for a topic for next month, I am thinking of Circles
The subject of the picture must be a circle, disc, or sphere in real life. It must show as a substantially complete ellipse in the picture.
There are many possible subjects in daily life,
For example: Dinner plates, cups, saucers, glasses, traffic signs, wheels, computer disks, CDs. Cut sections of circular fruit, pipes… All these have a round perimeter
Since this is SPC everyone can submit up to three photos, and since this topic does not depend on exotic location, special lighting, or freak weather conditions, it is equally open to everybody in all countries, and with any kind of camera. More importantly, there is plenty of opportunity to create a suitable picture indoors, which will help the majority of people at this time of the year.
I will give you more details over the next few days.
Best Wishes
Peter
2014 December SPC - ‘Circles’
Hi everybody my name is Peter. I am the moderator of this month's Secret Photographer Challenge
Subject: “Circles”
A picture made of several photos photoshopped together will be deemed off topic, as will pictures of other pictures, and the artwork of others.
Hints and ideas
1) Close up of a wheels on a car.
2) Computer disks or CD’s
3) Balls, other spheres. The full moon is acceptable.
4) Circular ripples on water.
5) It is allowed to make a composition of several circles, providing at least one satisfies the requirements.
Off Topic
1) Round window being used to frame something. (The view through the window is then the subject.)
2) A substantial part of the perimeter is obscured. Eg Things poking through a round hole,
3) Do not have a defined surface. Eg The sun, flowers, fluffy balls, etc.
4) The subject of the picture is considered something other than a circular object (for example a person riding a bicycle, the person is the subject, not the bicycle wheel).
5) They do not show as ellipses in the picture. Eg Balloons, light bulbs, unless only the end is visible.
6) Anything from SPC 18 - http://www.panoramio.com/user/4712010 (This comes under the rule that it must not have been shown on Pano before.)
Entry period: December 15 to December 31, 23:59 UK time
Voting period: January 1 to January 9, 23:00 UK time
However the exact time may have to change later, as we have New Year Celebrations!
Best Wishes for the coming holidays and for next year!
