Flags of the World

There are loads of photos on Panoramio showing flags flying over buildings. Vexillology is the correct name for the study of flags. Lets see how many different flags we can post, the only stipulation is that they must be shown on a building or as part of a landscape, and must be a single flag. (i.e. not the flags outside the United Nations building or similar). They can be flags of countries, towns, cities, organisations etc. Please name your flag and number it in your title. You should realise, Panamon_creel, that this is an entirely different concept and one which I would support fully. I think it's a good idea and would like to see it proceed without hinderance.

Whilst zooming through some of my shots collecting flags, I noticed pub signs to be quite prevelent. Is this too English, or does it have a global appeal?

The flag is the Canadian Maple Leaf. There is a facsimile of the Union Flag visible but it doesn't take the form of a flag so I hope this meets Geoff's rule!

Please remember that there is only one "rule" , as Bruno pointed out. I have several photos of the UN building etc where virtually all the flags of the world are shown. However in view of the time and effort made by marina (the first transgression) and ds (to name all the flags), I think the posts should be allowed to stand. However in future lets try to stick to the idea of different single flags, thanks purdey for bringing us back on track. Geoff
