You can introduce yourself in this thread if you are a newbie or if it is your first time in the forum. Please don't open a separate thread and bear in mind there is no need to add a link to your gallery because your signature is already a link.

Thanks

I'm new to this forum, but not to Google Earth. I enjoy searching around the area that I live in which is Eastern Ontario and have uploaded a few photos. My photos will be pretty much from this area, and because I also have an interest in railroad, there will be some pics from that topic too.
I live in Kingston Ontario and if anyone would like to see pictures from my area, please feel free to ask and I will do my best to post.
It is so cool to see your photos on Google Earth!

Welcome to the forum, Matthew.

One thing that would be helpful is to not use abbreviations. Although this forum is in English, it is used by people from around the world. Many users are not native speakers of English, including most of the moderators.

Hi. You are right about this being fun. I like to take pictures of unusual details, and ironic situations, things you wonder about that travel review sites, brochures, and commercial websites overlook. To show the "cracks and crevices," alleys, and unpainted back walls. Seeing a picture of the front of your potential rental house tells you nothing about what it would actually be like to stay there for a few days. You wonder what the bathroom looks like, or if you can see the ocean from "your" bedroom. You wonder if the grill at the campsite is on a pedestal (charcoal only) or is it really a firepit where you can make a roaring fire with wood?

I also like to take pictures with reflections in them.

Look forward to seeing & sharing different views of our world on this fun site. I hope you see something interesting today!

You know it is funny, we can't vote for you, only your photos but then we have to see it in the contest AND it has to be the best on the page of ten. I suggest you try and find a particular photo in the contest!!!

Also most of us will vote for a good photo and not because we are asked to vote for one!!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself to you all and say how nice it is to meet people with the same interest as myself and let you all know a wee bit about who i am. I live in the oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland, a wee town called Tain. I enjoy photography and want to be able to take some nice photos like the ones i see on here. I have a Fuji S100fs and I really like it although I would like to get a proper DSLR one day but not before i have got used to and understand how to operate the s100fs.

I love living in Tain and Scotland and I see some fantastic scenery every single day and I aspire to take great photos of it so that i can show them off to the people who come to sites just like Panoramio and perhaps they will like the photos so much that they will come and see it for themselves and get the same enjoyment as i do.

I look forward to being part of this website and i hope that you will bear with me and help me progress in my learning of the art of photography. I hope that on my way i will get some useful tips and hints from some of you that will help improve my photography and i wont make too much of a fool of myself by posting rubbish photos.

I have looked throught the site over the last few weeks and have noticed how wonderful the photos of everyone is, i do hope i can acheive your standards.

Well I think you get the idea so i better not rabbit on too much, I would just like to say hi and hopefully I will get to know some of you in my time on here.

Thanks

Hello all,
New to this site. I've uploaded some pictures already but have many more. I started out by uploading only the ones I think are the best. Then I started looking at the map to see you else had what posted in my area (Essex, MD). Then I started slapping up some not so good photos from an old point and shoot.

The rule breaking part would be this... http://www.flickr.com/photos/bobrogers/
... I'm betting there is some anti-cross pollination rule but as I'm not much of a rule reader much less a rule follower, I'm going to chance it. It's easier than uploading some 15,000 sub par photos. Feel free to look thru them yourself.

What I'd also like to know is if there is anyone that is semi local to the Baltimore, MD area that would like to go out on photo shoots. I live in a house of slugs. If it isn't in a video game or a TV show it just isn't worth seeing. So, I end up leaving them to veg and go out on my own. A LOT. Someone with an interest in the outdoors and photography would be a welcome change. If you're interested, drop me a line sometime.

bobro...@verizon.net

Thanks and see ya around.

First, welcome to Panoramio.

Most of us on the forum would encourage you to be selective. As you will learn from browsing the site, not everyone is.

Not a problem as long as you are not plastering it all over the place, and not including it in comments on other people's photos (and not advertising).

Alone is abut the only way I shoot. When family does go with me, they get bored and annoyed with my frequent stops (usually on foot) to shoot something else.

You might think twice about including your email address in forum posts. Spam bots love to use forums to harvest email addresses.

Some of you may have noticed my rambling and critique around the forum, just thought I should introduce myself.
Mid 40's, background in fashion and advertising photography.
Now days, ads, fashion, music, live music, weddings (bleh) and basic all round snapper.
For work I use a medium format hasselblad 503CW with a 50mm distagon, live work (music) I use an old jena body (emulsion) with a carl zeiss 35-70 lens and snaps on the go, I use a nikon 10M tourist camera, which are the majority of my uploaded shots.
Hope to see some nice shots around the boards.

:) Think I'm a typical hobby-photographer. It's my pleasure to show some photos of my aerea, the "Ortenau", part of Black Forest / Baden-Württemberg, Germany and/or from my trips or travels, especially my trips across the river Rhine to Alsace, France, to show some of the beautifull landscape and the villages and mountains, and last but not least photos from my various travels inside France, Canarian Islands, Australia. I feel surprised that so many of my photos were accepted by various communities, trip advisors etc. I did not expect it. And I did also not expect to get contacts to other people who share my hobby.

Hi, I came across this forum via Google Earth while I was reminiscing over some of my old places of residence in the world.  I saw some photos with the name Jon Stratford attached and wondered who this person was with my (not-so-common) family name.  Clicking on this name I ended up in Panoramio and this forum and thought that it looked interesting.  I am very 'green' having never used a forum before so don't know where to start.  Can somebody help me please? Give me some suggestions?  P.S. I never did find the person I was looking for, but am interested in sharing some of my extensive collection of photos.
I live in Thailand, was born and bred in Melbourne, Australia and have a small studio in Nice, France.

Hello to all of you,

My name is Vic, I am an amateur and also a beginner. I discovered a sudden and ever increasing passion for photography less than one year ago' around April 2011 and so I decided to 'approach' the art of (digital) photography with more intensity.

I am a "Nikonist" and most of my photos in my Pano-gallery are shot with a bridge Nikon P90 although very recently I upgraded to a Nikon D5100 and since then I feel like driving a.....Porsche without driving licence....;-))...I must learn a lot more about photography and about my new  (and also old) camera.

I found this foryum as I was searching for a Panoramio group for London (UK).

Does anyone know any Pano-friends based in London?

It'd be great to meet when possible and discuss about photography, travels and so on!

Have a nice day,

Vic

So I did independently of you... no reaction from Mike so far, so it's time for other action.
