Panoramio uses external location databases like GeoNames.org for the near by location display so it's best to try to correct the location there.

    Hi guys,

Photos located in a band between 4 degrees north and 4 degrees south around the World, approx. 30.000 photos, lost the mapping information, so they appear now as unmapped.

We are working right now on fixing this issue and we expect to recover the position of at least half of the photos, but unfortunately not all of them.

The area between 4 degrees north and south is not specially populated with photos, but still some important places like Singapore are inside. Already some people is re-mapping those photos, thanks for that.

We apologize for this problem. Sorry guys.

Regarding the previous issue. Now we are almost ready and we recovered the position of around 70% of the 30.000 photos that lost its position. We expect to recover a little bit more positions, around 5%-10%. Now you can see again Singapore full of photos.

    Regards,

    Eduardo

    About 'disappearing tags" bug :
as Larry Workman noticed several days ago already (see topic http://www.panoramio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4462), it SEEMS that this bug is fixed now.

But it has not been confirmed (neither contradicted) by anybody from Panoramio. What is the status of this bug?

I cant tell if its my computer or is there a glitch with this site.... I go to my page and it says something about me not having any images posted and I notice my images are gone, until I refresh it. I go to my contacts and it says that there content was deleted until I refresh the page again, then I view somwones photo and the hits are 278, and I refresh the page and then it says 0 and all the comments are gone.... I checked to make sure it was'nt my computer by going to other sites besides Panoramio and it seems as if this one was the only one that seemed to be taking unuassually long to load up and I would have to refresh it everytime for it to work, I had a hard time just gettting to this forum.

it's a temporary glitch, happens when the servers are overloaded which creates all kind of weird messages.

Glad to know, it seems as if that is no longer happending. Thanks for letting me know. It only seems to say "You have no posted photos" or something like that every time I use the back button so I end up having to need to refresh the page. So long as I don't use the back button, this won't happend.

    More on overloaded servers

It seems to me that GE looks up a server when I display a blue dot photo.

Is this server Panoramio or is it a different one? There are loading slow responses on both sites. I just come back later but this is a hit and miss strategy because of world wide access.

By the way, well done team. Loads of photos on GE, saves on travelling all over the world.

It's a different one: Google Earth has its own repository of medium-sized images and information. Panoramio's servers are only contacted if you click through from the Google Earth picture to access one of the features of Panoramio itself.

    Hi Chip

There is some database maintenance/optimisation going on at the moment, so you will notice a few minor blips. (Another is the page numbers missing on your thumbnail page, leaving just the prev and next buttons.)

    and received an error message

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

    and a load of gobbledygook.

No matter how I try to combat the system e.g. by swapping image numbers in the url I still get this.

I've noticed it occasionally with others' pics but never my own until now.

    Explanation please

The counter issue is still not completely resolved please see Andre Speek's comments on the issue. I have verified his issues and also just dropped Eduardo a line to make him aware it.

I'm encountering approximately this already known bug. But for me it is affecting every zoom level of the Satellite view (but not the Map view). It seems to be an access quota issue that I had encountered with Google Maps on the satellite view a couple times in the past. I did some very heavy access of a lot of adjacent areas in the satellite view, then suddenly I was getting that error "We are sorry, but we don't have imagery at this zoom level for this region." Now I'm getting this in Panoramio. But it seems to be a lot quicker. Another browser instance (not the same process) already looking at Google Maps Satellite view encountered it at the same time. Thinking that the combination of these accesses I had been doing today hit that access quota issue, I changed my IP address. Then I could view the satellite images again. So I started to upload my first photos and after I got 5 of them mapped, the problem started again.

It can't be the case tha Panoramio is using a separate set of map servers with a different quota basis because it affects ordinary access to Google Maps as well (so it's a common quota count). My thinking now is that somehow the Panoramio code is over-accessing the blocks too widely (too many get fetched) or otherwise is weighted more heavily against an access count.

First, a few days ago when I clicked on my bookmark to get to the main panoramio site, I ended up in someone else's account! I had to log out of that account and log in to my account. This has happened twice in the last week or so.

Second, I posted to the stitched pano forum, and the subject does not show up in the post.

You all have a great thing going here...please let me know if I can be of assistance. Thanks.

I've noticed that some of the views were deleted. The counting of views have decreased. When comparing the number of views in one photo (19249287) from yesterday (784) evening with the number i see today (773), i notice some disapered. It seams like there was some problem with some of the saved views from yesterday. Is it possible? Thanks and best regards, MaryJo

It is an known issue due to the migration and new way of reviewing thats coming up and doesn't belong in this list.

there is an unknown error from the last review where many pictures (way above the usual error rate) that should have been accepted got rejected and many that should have been rejected got accepted. The admins want to sort this out before doing something that could create an even bigger mess.

Hi there...I've been trying to upload photos this morning and get the following message:

    Internal error uploading photo

I have occasionally received this message with other upload efforts over the last week or so, but a "retry" always sorted it out.

Today I tried at least 5 times to upload 4 photos, and only got this message.

    Is this a temporary issue?

Well, if it is not temporary it is the demise of Panoramio.

So true Draken! I guess I meant to ask if this was going to be a problem for a while!

Working fine now, so indeed it was temporary!

I know I have seen comments about this glitch so it must be a known problem:

Entry of a latitude and longitude when initially positioning a photo location defaults to an arbitrary map reference.

This is a particular problem when trying to position the location in areas where imagery resolution is poor and one has good geographical coordinates either from GPS or other map/chart reference. I have noted the default location is sometimes miles away from the given reference location, particularly when that location is in coastal waters.

Any progress anyone knows about? Front or back burner by the staff?

    Hi,

my photos that were showing on Google Earth are no longer showing. I have uploaded more and now I have none that are showing. They are all showing mapped including the older ones.

There are also alot of photos in New Zealand that are no longer visible on Google Earth.

    Thanks,

    Panamon-Creel
