Tens of Millions of people are affected daily with anxiety attacks.
Many go untreated as people are afraid to come forward for fear that
they may be ridiculed or mislabeled. Most people are uneducated about
what anxiety attacks are and how to deal with an anxiety attack.
Without the knowledge on how to deal with anxiety attacks, things can
quickly get out of control. An anxiety attack is when, a person
suffers a brief period where they are overcome with a strong fear with
no apparent reason for the onset.
Chances are that if you have had, two or more anxiety attacks in a one
month period, then you may suffer from a condition called anxiety
disorder or panic disorder. When these types of conditions are not
dealt with or you do not know how to handle the attacks when they
happen, they can limit you and keep you from living a normal life.
More severe case have been shown to induce an agoraphobic state in
some people. They fear to even leave their house as they do not know
how to deal with these episodes alone let alone having one in front of
people, therefore, they avoid the outside world all together.
While there is no known test to prove that you may have an anxiety
disorder, there are ways that you can learn to deal with an anxiety
attack. First, you need to recognize the signs that an anxiety attack
will bring on. An anxiety attack can make you feel like you have the
same symptoms of other health problems, so you will need to rule out
these illnesses first. An example of this scenario would be chest
pains that make you feel like you are having a heart attack when in
reality it is really just an anxiety attack.
If you suffer from repeated anxiety attacks, this can become a real
health problem that will need to be treated. You can seek the help of
a counselor, as a counselor can help you to understand what is causing
the anxiety attacks. He or she can help you to learn relaxation
techniques using deep breathing that can help reduce the anxiety. It
can take a few months or treatment to ensure that your anxiety attacks
will not return.
If you feel you suffer from anxiety attacks, first seek the help of a
doctor. He or she will help you rule out the possibility of a
physiological cause. You may have signs such as sweating, heart
racing, jitters, or maybe you're agitated for no apparent reason. If
your symptoms last longer than one to two weeks, you may want to seek
the advice of a trained therapist. It is important to treat the
condition at an early onset of symptoms to avoid long term problems.
Left untreated the condition can have a snowball effect and lead to
further problems. There is no need to be embarrassed or for you to
just sit around waiting for things to get better as these are very
common disorders and can easily be treated.
