The easiest way to create a calendar in Excel is to use a professionally designed template. The free Excel Calendar Template on this page was one of my first and most popular templates. It is easy to use and includes useful features like common holidays, mini previous/next month calendars, and highlighted weekends. We have since created many other types of calendar templates, printable calendars, yearly calendars, planners, and schedules that you can find on our Calendar Templates page.
One of the reasons many people prefer using an Excel calendar over other calendar software is the flexibility a spreadsheet gives you when entering events, highlighting cells, formatting, etc. Excel, originally created for accounting purposes, has turned into one of the most popular tools for creating custom calendars.
These versions of the theme-enabled templates have custom digital calendar stickers already inserted for many of the holidays, and come with over 100 other images to help you add some fun and flair to your to-dos and events.
Each of the Excel files includes a yearly calendar worksheet followed by 12 monthly calendars on separate worksheets. There are no complicated formulas in these files, so you can easily add events, birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, to create calendars for your family, club, or organization. Some U.S. holidays and observances are already included.
These full-year calendar spreadsheets do not contain macros. You can change formatting, merge cells to create events spanning multiple days, and otherwise modify the calendar without having to worry about messing up the dates.
The screenshot on the left shows what our original free calendar template looked like. Before Excel 2007 came out with a good color palette, we used macros within the template to generate good color schemes for our calendars. Now, you can download the theme-enabled versions listed above if you want a way to easily pick different colors for your calendar.

Embed a small monthly calendar into your spreadsheet for reference and entering dates. This app for Excel is particularly useful for working with time sheets, schedules, project plans, logs, and ledgers where you frequently need to refer to a calendar. The date picking function makes it easy to enter dates or the current time into the currently selected cell. You can highlight dates in the calendar by selecting a range of dates in your spreadsheet. You can also toggle the size of the calendar, show week numbers, change the calendar system (U.S. or ISO), and choose a different theme (blue, green, etc.).
Ok I have a 2-fold problem that is basically the same thing. I'm building a standard monthly Calendar in an Excel sheet for tracking attendance. The layout is the same as you would see in Outlook, where it has 6 rows and 6 columns. I have the calendar setup and it accurately alters the dates based on the month which is selected from a Data Validation list.
So for instance if there is an entry in the Attendance List, that John Doe was Sick on 1/2/2018. Then on the calendar it will highlight the cell with the date 1/2/2018 in red if the employee selected in the Data Validation list cell D4 is John Doe.
So how do I set it up so it changes every day only to show that row. But the idea would also be, I guess, is to change the excel layout or as you write report layout so each column head or I could create names where each column head could show that time. In that field.
While it has been noted that there is a CSV import feature to import a calendar, and that calendars may be synced to such favorites as Outlook, Google Calendar, and iCal, the ability to export an existing calendar to CSV is not yet available.
I entered everything for 2019-2020 into the Scoutbook calendar and then had my Google calendar subscribe to it. I only had to enter it once. If I change it in Scoutbook, it will automatically update in Google.
So for example, There's an event on the 30th July, so I enter it into the calendar. I'd like to be able to specify that an entry should be made 4 weeks earlier, on the 2nd July, to tell me to blog, tweet or whatever about that particular event.
