Hi,

We are developing application which will required video encoding on
demand, one of the requirements is to have application that can
encode 10-20 video files simultaneously, and when demand grows should
be able to scale up further,
now I have setup panda on amazon Ec2, it works, does very good job at
encoding, but how can I get it to encode more than one video file same
time?

another question: since we have dug up all the documentation I cant
seem to find anything that talks about configuring more than one
instance of panda to work together, some performance boosting tweaks
etc.. can someone point out where we can find those documentation?

third question: where can we read more about administrative aspect of
panda, for example how can we remove some encoding profiles ? and what
are the other properties that we can use.

Kind Regards
levan

Hi Levan,

It is possible to get the current version of Panda to process using
multiple encoders, but the method is uses for job allocation is not
the most robust. With this method you must also manage the EC2
instances and encoding processes manually, so scaling up and down
rapidly is not full automatic.

We have been working on a new version of Panda which is a managed
service and addresses these issues.

We're on schedule to start opening it up to beta testers in January,
it would be useful to hear about your application to see if we can
have it running on the new architecture.

Hi,

can you please include us for the upcoming demo?
I did do a signup through website,

about or application:
its community driven portal that allows users to upload their videos,
(just like youtube). and have it posted on the website.

I do not manage development part of the portal, it is managed through
php team, am only providing AWS deployment, encoding, streaming
solutions,
so this upcoming panda managed service might just be the bulls eye for
me.

quick question :
when you say:

"It is possible to get the current version of Panda to process using
multiple encoders, but the method is uses for job allocation is not
the most robust. With this method you must also manage the EC2
instances and encoding processes manually, so scaling up and down
rapidly is not full automatic. "

can you give me pointers on docs, info, etc ... regarding that kind of
setup?
specifically : configuring more than one instance of panda to work
together, either its ec2 instances, manually or not does not matter
for now,
I would like to explore all possible options, and before the demo
launch, to have some kind of alternative manual solution in place.

regards
Levan

Hi,

I will be sure to include you.

In regards to running multiple instances. There is no official docs on
the exact steps. But if you start up multiple EC2 instances and point
them to the same database etc.. the multiple encoders will simple pick
up the jobs as expected.
