SPI detect utility similiar to i2c detect to Test SPI Connection

Hi, 

I am looking for spi utilities(like i2c utilities - i2cdetect,i2cXX ) to test the SPI connection with a slave device  I have connected with my pandaboard.

I found one python script(in this python-Script) .Is there any other utility similiar utility.
