Please give more details.
Which "binaries"? Are you using pandroid, ubuntu 12.04, ... ?
Do you have serial cable + console configured?
Do you have bootloader logs in the console? What is displayed on the console?

I format the sd card using the script in the pandaboard wiki by only changing the second partition name to rootfs.
