In my case, I used Gregoire Gentil (Always innovating) Ice Scream Sandwich 4.0.3.b pre-built image

and followed the readme file steps.

    df -h
    umount /media/SDcard
    sudo -s
    cat image-ics-pandaboard... > /dev/sdb
-----------------

It works smoothly in my rev A3 pandaborad (I am using a 8Gb class 4 Kingston SD card. Memories with class higher than  4 should perform even better )

PS: Make sure that the /dev/sd_  device from the cat command do corresponds with your SDcard-reader (that is the reason why Gregoire included the df -h command)
