A very nice form of a tough and durable native shrubby sage introduced by Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. Growing 4-6 ft. tall and wide with dark green textured foliage with white hairs on the leaf undersides. Instead of the typical light lavender flowers, this cultivar offers dark lavender-blue blossoms. Plant in full sun with little to no summer water once established. This native sage seems very tolerant of soil types even managing on heavy clay. Sage flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, their seeds provide food for birds. Deer resistant.

Pacific Blue Macedonian Pine (Pinus peuce)This fast growing selection has a sturdy upright pyramidal form and long, thin, intensely blue needles that persist for years; produces an abundance of light brown cones and is an excellent choice as a dramatic color accent; very cold and wind tolerant
Pacific Blue Macedonian Pine is primarily valued in the landscape for its distinctively pyramidal habit of growth. It has attractive silvery blue evergreen foliage. The needles are highly ornamental and remain silvery blue throughout the winter.
Pacific Blue Macedonian Pine is a dense evergreen tree with a strong central leader and a distinctive and refined pyramidal form. Its relatively fine texture sets it apart from other landscape plants with less refined foliage.
Pacific Blue Macedonian Pine will grow to be about 20 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 15 feet. It has a low canopy with a typical clearance of 2 feet from the ground, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live to a ripe old age of 100 years or more; think of this as a heritage tree for future generations!
This tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and will often die in standing water. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or the moisture-conserving landscape. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
Sempervivum 'Pacific Blue Ice' (Gossett): A stunning, silvery blue cultivar that can flush pink to purple. It is a medium to large rosette with short cilia lining its leaves and rippling watermarks. Additionally, it is a solid, easy grower.
Hens & Chicks need plenty of outdoor sunlight to show their best colors and maintain a tight rosette form. They thrive in gritty, well-draining soils and pots with drainage holes. They produce new offsets or "chicks" on stolons. These chicks can be left to form tidy clusters or removed to share and transplant.
Sempervivum do most of their growing in the spring and summer, and will thrive with weekly watering and afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 80F. They are incredibly frost hardy and will happily thrive through winter under an insulating blanket of snow. Protect from heavy rains and standing water to prevent rot.
Pacific Blue (Pac Blue, PacBlue) is a blue-emitting organic fluorophore that can be excited by the 405 nm Violet laser and captured with a 450/50 nm bandpass filter. Pacific Blue has an excititaion peak at 401 nm and an emission peak at 452 nm.

The Pacific Blue Eye has a semi-transparent body that can vary in colour from pale olive, yellow to bluish. As the common name suggests, the iris of the Pacific Blue Eye is blue. The operculum and belly region are silvery. There is often a series of pearly spots along the side of the body.
The fins of males and females are different shapes. The dorsal, anal and pelvic fins of males are extended into filaments. The fins can also differ in colouration, particularly during breeding when the fins of the male can become brilliantly coloured.
Females lay one or two eggs at each spawning with up to nine spawnings a day over the spawning period, which may last over a week. The 1.8 mm diameter eggs attach to vegetation by adhesive filaments. At 22-24C the eggs take 18 to 21 days to develop. Well developed young hatch and can feed immediately. In an aquarium, the newly hatched young can reach maturity in six months.
At courtship a male will dart backwards and forwards in front of the female, while fluttering the pectoral fins and holding the dorsal, anal and pelvic fins erect. At spawning, the two fish swim into vegetation and their bodies shake violently.
Aptly named, this selection is icy blue-green in color, becoming flushed with rose towards the center especially in cooler weather. This elegant yet very hardy perennial has a unique cupped form and makes rounded rosettes.
Sempervivum is comprised of one large rosette called the "hen" which sprouts many smaller rosettes around it called "chicks". As the plants age, the "hen" may die out and be replaced by the "chicks". Plants can be divided easily at any time by pulling up some of the "chicks" and replanting them elsewhere.
This plant is particularly effective when planted in the cracks and crevices of stone walls or walkways. It is also very attractive in containers.
Sempervivum is the perfect plant for hot, dry, sunny locations with very well-drained soil. Though they can adapt to a variety of soil types, they perform best in gritty soil. If a groundcover effect is desired, space plants close together because they grow slowly.
