Keyboard shortcuts are keys or combinations of keys that offer a faster alternative to performing tasks typically done with a mouse. If you are trying to take a screenshot or screengrab, see How to take and annotate screenshots.

The "Windows key," when used with other keys, enables you to execute numerous handy tasks such as launching Settings, File Explorer, the Run command, and apps pinned to the Taskbar, as well as open specific features like Narrator or Magnifier. Additionally, you can manage windows and virtual desktops, take screenshots, lock the computer, and more.
I am a musician and have a very large number of Word song files in one master folder that I use a number of shortcuts in other folders to access. This way I don't have multiple copies of a song file which would make editing a mess. These other folders are basically for categories like genre and artist or types like summer songs, western songs, songs of the '60's etc. I normally use these on a Windows laptop or desktop which works very well, but when I am on my iPhone or iPad I cannot follow these shortcut links.
I know it's not possible currently with DropBox. It would not seem that difficult though if the shortcut destination is in the link description to point to the file on DropBox. I'll keep looking for a workaround.
I asked this question 4 days ago and had one response that didn't offer a solution. I just received a notification that "A reply to a topic you are following has been accepted as a solution!" I didn't accept the reply as a solution, so I don't know why it was marked as that. Maybe there's a timeout if no further replies are added that automatically makrs the thread as solved and closed. I'm still looking htough, so I'll pose the question again:
Is there a way to get DropBox on iOS to follow Windows shortcut links to another DropBox file in another folder on DropBox?

I've thought of trying to set up a Workflow or IFTTT solution, but I haven't figured that out yet. I also thought maybe I could create DropBox links to all my 3000 files that I could use in other folders instead of shortcuts, but I haven't found a way to create multiple links.
I've also contacted DropBox with a request for an up date to DropBox for iOS to allow following shortcut links to other files in DropBox, but I haven't had a response.
Does anyone know of a clever workaround or way to accomplish what I'm after?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Did this post not resolve your issue? If so please give us some more information so we can try and help - please remember we cannot see over your shoulder so be as descriptive as possible!
I understand that there is not a file structure on iOS like on Windows, but there should be some mechanism that could see that the file is a .lnk file and then would look for the linked file in a user-specified folder. It's a very simple problem. I guess I'd better put on my thinking cap to figure out a workaround. I figured someone here on the forum would have experience with apps that access DropBox that might be able to do what I'm looking for. Right now I have two apps open - one to see the folders with links and one to open them in the DropBox master folder where the linked files are.
Ensure that the option to show recently opened items in the Start menu is enabled. To do this, right-click on the Start button, select "Settings," go to "Personalization," and click on "Start." Make sure the "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar" option is toggled on.
Windows 10 allows you to reset the Start menu layout, which can help if there are any configuration issues causing the disappearance of shortcuts. Right-click on the Start button, select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)" or "Command Prompt (Admin)" to open an elevated PowerShell or Command Prompt window. Then, enter the following command and press Enter:
If the issue persists, creating a new user profile can help determine if the problem is specific to your current user account. Create a new user account and check if the shortcuts appear properly in the Start bar for the new user.
The shortcuts function normally, but the icon simply will not display, even if I browse out to where the shortcuts and icon files are stored in the network share in File Explorer. If I actually copy the icon file to the local computer and then change the shortcut to point to that file, the icon appears normally:
I may have to go this route, as I just tested, and it does in fact work as a work-around, but I would really love to know the underlying cause. Why would W11 not display a shortcut icon that W10 has no issues with??
What I would do is get a Wireshark of the SMB conversation on a working system and not for comparison. If the file is being transferred properly, it would isolate it to an issue on the system preventing it.
%COMPUTERNAME% causes each machine to look for an Apps share on the local computer so would only resolve on the machine with the Apps share unless your creating an Apps share on each machine. Instead, replace %COMPUTERNAME% with server name where the Apps share is located.
I am currently using Creo Parametric 7.0. I want to switch between open windows using Ctrl + Tab like every single other software does. I searched for a while and found no options in the software or even anyone asking about it. Is there some way I can make this a keyboard shortcut or something? Is this feature just not integrated into Creo at all?
It seems ridiculous to me this feature isn't just automatically supported in the software. I have used programs running on Windows XP that have this functionality. I'm surprised that it seems no one has brought this up before to be honest.
The user interface is not using Microsoft widgets but PTC created ones. All of the Creo dialog boxes are designed and created by PTC. Any expectation that the Creo interface would function like a Microsoft product is totally misplaced. Other CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, OnShape, SolidEdge, etc.) running on Windows does use the Microsoft libraries for widgets and dialogs.
Thanks for the info. I did not know that about Creo. I still think it's a pretty simple feature that would be useful, and I was surprised to see that Creo doesn't seem to have it. The lack of keyboard shortcuts is one of the first things I noticed when switching over from SolidWorks.
There are keyboard shortcuts embedded in the menu, but primarily, I use mapkeys (programs that run a series of commands) with up to 4 letter to trigger the mapkey. I try to make all my mapkeys "left-handed" since I am a right handed mouser.
I see what you're talking about. I agree it's not much different than hovering over the taskbar icon. I was hoping there was some way to just use the keyboard as I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts more than mouse clicks. Just seems smoother to me.
In this story we'll cover the most important keyboard shortcuts for Windows 11, many of which carry over from Windows 10 and earlier versions of Microsoft's operating system. That includes the basics, like copying highlighted items and undoing a previous action, as well as lesser-known shortcuts, like snapping an active window into place.
You don't need to know all of them, but there are likely a handful here that you'll want to employ in your Windows workflow to improve your overall productivity. And if you want to check out more on Windows 11, here are nine hidden Windows 11 features and how to make Windows 11 act more like Windows 10.

To remember the shortcuts, notice that all the keys are next to each other. All you do is use different arrow keys. Also Moving to another monitor has one more key than putting the windows in split view on the same monitor.
I wonder if someone would review my drawing so it uses the default shortcuts, then make it available in general to Windows AD users. I may do that sometime myself, but unfortunately I don't have the time right now.
These cheat sheets are directly from the workbooks which is why I question if it's really okay to use. They are copyrighted and says that right in the workbooks. Can someone please verify that it is okay to post these?
OH, I see. There are two different threads going around about cheat sheets but they are different things. I see that now. Yours is an actual keyboard image and since you made and posted it, Thanks for sharing! Things like this are always very helpful.
