நான் முன்பு வாங்கிய நோக்கிய C5 போனிலும் இது இருந்தது.
இது என்னன்னா, காண்டாக்டில் இருக்கும் ஒரு நபரை அழைக்க காண்டாக்ட்ஸ்-ற்கு உள்ளே செல்ல வேண்டிய அவசியமே இல்லை. போனின் டெஸ்க்டாப்பிலிருந்தே அழைக்கலாம்.
உதாரணமாக, Gokul-ஐ அழைக்க வேண்டுமென்றால்,
ghi - இதை ஒரு முறை
mno - இதை ஒரு முறை (o இதில் மூன்றாவதாக இருந்தாலும் ஒரு முறை தான்)
jkl - இதை ஒரு முறை
tuv - இதை ஒரு முறை
jkl - இதை ஒரு முறை
அழுத்தினால் போதும். ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் நாம் அழுத்த அழுத்த, ஒவ்வொரு காம்பினேஷனாக கொண்டு வரும். மூன்று முறை அழுத்தினாலே, நாம் அழைக்க விரும்பும் நபரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து விடலாம்.

இந்த சுட்டியில் இருப்பது கூட கூகிள் காலண்டரில் My Calenders-க்கு கீழே, Other Calenders-ல் Friend's Birthdays என்னும் தனி காலண்டராக இருக்கும். அதை நாம் எடிட் செய்ய முடியாது.
அதை விட சிறப்பாக கீழே கொடுத்திருக்கும் சுட்டியில் உள்ள ஃபேஸ்புக் அப் வேலை செய்கிறது. இது நம்முடைய கூகிள் காலண்டரிலேயே இம்போர்ட் செய்து விடுகிறது. இந்த சுட்டியைச் சொடுக்கி, ஃபேஸ்புக்கில் இருக்கும் நம்முடைய நண்பர்களின் பிறந்தநாள் விபரங்களை ICS கோப்பாக எக்ஸ்போர்ட் செய்து விட்டு, பின்னர் அந்த கோப்பை கூகிள் காலண்டரில் இம்போர்ட் செய்து விடலாம். மொத்த வேலையும் மூன்று நிமிடத்தில் முடிந்து விடுகிறது.
அதன்பிறகு google sync உபயோகித்து wireless -ஆக, உங்கள் மொபைல் போனில் sync செய்து விடலாம்.

1. உங்கள் மொபைலில் GPRS வசதியை உயிர்ப்பித்து கொண்டு, மொபைல் மூலம் http://www.opera.com/mini/
இணையதளத்திற்கு சென்று ஒபேரா மினி தரவிறக்கி உங்கள் மொபைலில் நிறுவி கொள்ளுங்கள்.
2. மொபைலில் நிறுவிய ஒபேரா மினி உலாவியை திறந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். பின்பு அட்ரஸ் பாரில் opera:config என்று கொடுத்து OK கொடுக்கவும்.
3. தோன்றும் பக்கத்தில் Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts menu என்பதில் enable YES கொடுத்து save செய்யவும்.
4. ஒபேரா மினி உலாவியை மூடி விட்டு மீண்டும் திறக்கவும்.
இனி உங்கள் மொபைலில் நீங்கள் தமிழ் இணைய தளங்களை எந்த தடை இன்றியும் பார்க்கலாம்
ஆனால், நண்பர்கள் ”Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts menu” இந்த ஆப்ஷன் வரவில்லை என்று சொல்கிறார்கள். ஏன் என்று தேட வேண்டும்.
இதில் என்ன சிரமம் என்றால், அந்த குறிப்பிட்ட மொபைலும் இண்டெர்நெட் கனெக்ஷனும் இருந்தால் தான் சரியாக தேட முடியும்.
என்னிடம் இருப்பது பிளாக்பெர்ரியும் நோக்கியா N82-வும். ஆனால், இண்டெர்நெட் ப்ளான் இருப்பது பிளாக்பெர்ரிக்குத்தான். பிளாக்பெர்ரி இண்டெர்நெட் பிளானை நோக்கியாவுக்கு உபயோகப்படுத்த முடியாது என்பதால் தேடி செக் பண்ணுவது சிரமம்.

Most of the mobile internet browsers does not support Indian languages like malyalam,hindi,tamil telugu Mobiles does not support these fonts. All the text contents of the web page display with boxes. To get these languages in Opera Mini you just need to change a simple setting in about:config
open operamini and type about:config in address bar
Next you will reach a sceen called Power-User Settings
Scroll down to see the Use bitmap fonts for complex scripts menu and select “YES” for it
Click save and restart the browser
Now onwards you can view native languages in OperaMini like the below snapshot

கணினியில் இது சுலபம். ஏன்னா, இருக்கிறது சில ஆப்பரேட்டிங் சிஸ்டம் தான். விண்டோஸ், மேக், லினக்ஸ் இந்த மாதிரி.
ஆனால் மொபைலில், பிளாக்பெர்ரி ஓ எஸ், செம்பியன் ஓ எஸ், பால்ம் ஓ எஸ், ஐபோன் ஓ எஸ், ஆண்ட்ராய்ட் ஓ.எஸ், அதிலும் பல வெர்ஷன்கள், பல மாடல்கள்.
ஆக, தனித்தனியா யாராவது அப்ளிகேஷன் எல்லாம் எழுத வேண்டும். அதை அந்த ஓ.எஸ். சப்போர்ட் செய்ய வேண்டும். வாங்குவதற்கும் ஆள் வேண்டும்.

இன்ஸ்டால் ஆகிவிட்டது. ஆனால், ரன் ஆகவில்லை. எடிசலாட்டிடம் கேட்ட பொழுது மினி ஓபேரா தடை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதுன்னு தான் சொன்னாங்க.
அதன்பிறகு தான் வேறு ஆப்ஷனைத் தேட ஆரம்பித்தேன்.
ஆனால், நோக்கியாவுக்கும் அதே விதியா என்று தெரியவில்லை. ஏனென்றால், பிளாக்பெர்ரி இண்டெர்நெட் ப்ளான் வேறு, மற்ற இண்டெர்நெட் ப்ளான் வேறு.

How To Capture a Screen Shot with the Snipping Tool in Windows Vista / Windows 7
The Snipping Tool is included with Windows Vista.
Note: The Sniping tool is not available in Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. It comes with Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate Editions.
- Click on the Start Menu and start typing "snipping" into the search box.
- Snipping Tool should show up in the Programs list above the search box, and you can click on it to start it.
- The Snipping Tool window will appear on your screen. You may move it to an edge of the screen so it's not in your way, but it will also disappear when you start dragging a selection area.
- The Snipping Tool assumes you want to create a new clipping as soon as you open it. Your screen will dim, and you can click and drag your cursor to select an area to copy. As you drag, the selected area will be darker, and surrounded by a red border if you've never changed the Snipping Tool options.
- When you release the mouse button, the captured area will open in the Snipping Tool window. If you're not happy with the selection and need to try again, click the "New" button.
- When you are happy with your clipping, press the second button to save the screen shot as an image file. See the tips below for file format suggestions.

ஆனால், என்னுடைய அறைத்தோழன் டூ (இது டூவா, ட்யூவா) கனெக்ஷன் வைத்திருக்கிறார். அவரால் பார்க்க முடிகிறது.
பொதுவாய், டியு கனெக்சனில் இண்டர்நெட் இணைப்பு இருப்பவர்களுக்கு இந்த தொல்லை இல்லை.. du இணைய இணைப்பில் fring அட்டகாசமாக வேலை செய்கிறது. ஆனால் எடிசலாடில் ஃப்ரிங் தடை :(((

பிளாக்பெர்ரியைப் பொறுத்தவரை கொடுத்திருக்கும் இன்புட் மொழிகளில் இந்திய மொழிகள் எதுவும் இல்லை.
இப்பொழுது தான் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட வெர்ஷனில் ஹிந்தியைச் சேர்த்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், அதிலும் மெனு மட்டும் ஹிந்தியில் இருக்கிறது. ஹிந்தியில் வரும் மடல்களை, பதிவுகளைப் பார்க்கலாம். இன்புட் வசதி இன்னும் கொடுக்கவில்லை. அப்படியே கொடுத்தாலும் நாம் இப்பொழுது nhmwriter உபயோகப்படுத்தி தங்கிலீஷில் டைப் அடிப்பது போல் கொடுக்க மாட்டார்கள். True keyboard கொடுப்பார்கள்.
ஆக, நமக்குத் தேவை windows-ற்கு இருப்பது போல் nhmwriter, அழகி, ekalappai, குறள் போன்ற மென்பொருள்கள். இப்படி வருவது முதலில் ஆண்ட்ராய்ட் ஆப்பரேடிங் சிஸ்டத்திற்குத்தான் வரும் என்று நினைக்கிறேன். இப்பொழுது சந்தையில் இதற்குத்தான் மவுசு ஜாஸ்தி.
Gokul,I think, you can change the input mode for typing in other languages. If it is used in ASCII, you can type in any language. I am sure this is available for major languages.If you want that for tamil, you can edit that package and install.

Your Mobile Personality Test
It’s been a very strange week. First I got asked by a Brunch team member (you know who you are) to suggest a new phone to upgrade to. Nothing unusual – just that the conversation made me rethink the advice I usually give. How do you suggest a phone to a person who’s never used a smartphone and now wants to graduate to one that will ‘simplify’ her life? This is a person who has no camps that she belongs to, no loyalties, no specific feature sets she was looking for, no preferences on brands – pretty much a clean slate to start with. Hours later, one of India’s leading fashion designers fished out a five-year-old, zero-feature, ancient relic of a phone and proudly stated to me that this was all he needed and anybody wanting more than this from a phone was a fool. The next day I was witness to a bitter fight between a Blackberry user and an iPhone user with each calling the other names based on the phone that they use. They did part by saying that they would never talk to each other ever again – not even on their phones.
Thus, a mobile phone today is far more than a important work and communication tool. We choose our phones based on a lot of criteria: internal and external, some logical some bizarre, some intelligent and some completely foolish. But eventually, our phone says a lot about who we are and is now part of our identity. Could we then study our colleagues, lovers, family and friends based on this tiny device in their hand?

What you think of yourself:
You think of yourself as young (at heart if not age), trendy, with-it
(also own the MacBook Air and two iPads), a true techie (can figure out
iTunes), get what you want (got your auntyji in the UK to get you the
unlocked iPhone 4), like the good things in life, very well informed
(all those apps that keep you right on the button) given to some vanity,
but not apologetic about it. You like things understated (one home
button), yet like a little bling (the phone cover), you get bored of
people and things quickly (you moved from iPhone 1 to 4 in three
straight years!), are cool and stylish (a study says iPhone users get
more sexual partners!), can afford the luxuries of life and are
basically successful and upwardly mobile.
What others think of you: A bit of a prat, part of a demonic fan club, a complete tech dufus who wants things simple and idiot-proof, doesn’t understand that a phone should also make good voice calls, enslaved to a system and company, pretentious and snobbish, has got stuck in a silly endless rut of cycling through a new iPhone every year (otherwise, life will come to a grinding halt!), would buy even used toilet paper if Steve Jobs went on stage and announced that you should, obtuse and stubborn, not willing to listen to anybody else and brutally aggressive when criticised.

What you think of yourself: You don’t buy into hype, are anti-herd and not a part of any cult. You are logical (won’t stand in line for nine days to buy an overpriced device), rebel with a cause (Apple is evil), patient and calm (suffered through Android 1.6), honest and down-to-earth, like method in your madness (don’t mind swiping your finger through every damn screen), revolutionary and willing to live dangerously (will buy unbranded Chinese Android knockoffs), gets things free while others pay top dollar for it (Angry Birds), super techie (will overcome early user problems like a screen freeze every 15 minutes in first editions), like a phone to be feature-heavy, won’t use crippled technology (like a fuddy-duddy cable for syncing), don’t want to get stuck in a closed system with a walled-garden approach, willing to help others with their problems (even if all the problems are about Android) and basically, a true son of the soil.
What others think of you: A complete putz that secretly lusts after the iPhone, dull and geeky, nerdy and boring, suffering though a mediocre system as you don’t want to accept defeat, part of a cookie-cutter club where everybody has the same phone, secretly lusts after the iPhone, has an inferiority complex and covers up with trying to be rebellious, secretly lusts after the iPhone, has issues with Steve Jobs and is taking it out on himself and his family, part of the dumb army that Google is building for world domination, hoping and praying for an iPhone killer (and secretly lusts after the iPhone).
Next week we’ll get into the even more treacherous world of
BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Phone and most importantly, what it says
about you when you deliberately stick to a five-year-old non-smartphone
and still have a have content grin on your face (hint: it’s not good).
Meanwhile, do remember that this mobile phone personality study isn’t
perfect yet. So don’t go about choosing a life partner based on the
phone that he or she carries :)

Vodafone India emerges as the winner of Mobile Number Portability
The mobile number portability was finally introduced in India last year and was launched nationwide in January this year. It was speculated that this scheme would be the “game changer” for the telecom industry, however it hasn’t. Only as less as 5 million subscribers, or less than 1 percent of the country's total customers, had opted to switch carriers.
Vodafone India emerged as the winner with the largest number of customers switching to the network. The results were out on Friday which showed a net 192,761 customers switched to India's 3rd largest mobile carrier Vodafone Essar, while sixth-ranked Idea Cellular was next, with net gains of 150,789 customers. India’s top 2 operators, Bharti Airtel gained a net 148,215 customers in MNP, but No. 2 Reliance Communications was a net loser of 306,417customers.
With 771 million mobile subscribers as of January, India is the world's second-biggest market for mobile services and with monthly additions averaging 19 million in the past one year, it is the world's fastest growing market.

இன்னும் பிளாக்பெர்ரிக்கும், செம்பியனுக்கும், விண்டோஸ் மொபைலுக்கும் தமிழ் இன்புட் செய்யும் வசதி வந்தது போல் தெரியவில்லை.
இப்போதைக்கு ஐபோனுக்கும், ஆண்ட்ராய்டுக்கும் தான் இருக்கு. அதிலும் ஆண்ட்ராய்டில் தமிழ் பார்க்கும் வசதி இல்லை. ஓபரா மினி ப்ரௌசரை வச்சுக்கிட்டு இணைய தளங்களையும், வெப் பேஸ்டு மடல்களையும் மட்டும் தான் பார்க்க முடியும்.
தமிழ் விசை அப்-பை வச்சு டைப் அடிக்கும் போது தமிழில் தெரியுமாம். அனுப்பி முடிஞ்சவுடன் கட்டம் கட்டமாத் தெரியுமாம். (உதாரணம் கூகிள் சாட்டில்)

Overall conclusion
The Rebel series has never been characterized by cutting-edge innovation or radical interpretations of what a camera can be - instead, the series' development seems to be driven by a calm, rational assessment of the features people want in a tolerably small package and at a price people are willing to pay. And, though the cameras which comprise it may disappoint the technology enthusiasts, it's a formula that has produced some of the best-selling DSLRs ever made and kept a lot of beginner and enthusiast photographers very happy.
Which is a roundabout way of saying that, from the perspective of anyone following the market, the T3i / 600D isn't a very exciting camera - it's a slight upgrade of its predecessor with the flip-out screen from the more expensive EOS 60D. However, from the perspective of someone buying their first DSLR or upgrading from anything more than about three years old, it's an excellent combination of features and capability at a very reasonable price.
Keen enthusiasts who feel they've outgrown their current DSLRs are likely to appreciate the two-dial interface, larger viewfinder and more substantial grip offered by the EOS 60D but many others are likely to recognize that almost all its underlying features are present in the considerably cheaper smaller T3i. The flip-out screen is handy for tripod and video work, though the slow contrast-detection AF in live view and video shooting means it's not as useful as on cameras such as Panasonic's GH2.
Image Quality
This is the fourth Canon DSLR that we've seen that combines the 18MP CMOS sensor with Digic 4 processing, so it's no great surprise that there are no great surprises. Detail representation in JPEGs is generally good and processing from Raw shows there's a little more being captured if you want to blow the images up really large.
The JPEG output is the standard Canon performance - colors closer to punchy than neutral and rather crunchy sharpening giving strongly defined edges. It's not a look that's to everyone's tastes, of course, but it does help give the images a bit more impact - which is exactly what many users at this level will be looking for. Of course it can be toned-down if you prefer. High ISO performance is also impressive - with user-adjustable noise reduction allowing you to select the appropriate balance between noise and detail for your image usage.
The sensor does a good job of capturing dynamic range and this can be boosted still further by enabling Highlight Tone Priority mode - capturing more highlights without any great cost in terms of noise. We can see very few reasons not to use this as the default mode for shooting the camera and would recommend that new users at least give it a try.
There's even more to be gained in Raw - with more
fine detail and low light capability to be gained if you are willing to
tailor your noise reduction and sharpening to each individual image. The
600D's files don't have quite the same exposure latitude as those from
its peers using the rival 16.2MP sensor, but there's still plenty of
scope for playing around in Raw if you really want to get the best out
of your images.
As far as video image quality is concerned, the 600D does not
disappoint. 1080p footage is sharp and detailed, and motion is captured
smoothly and naturally. Noise can be a problem at high ISO settings,
just like it can in still images, but you have to venture above ISO 3200
for it to be in any way obtrusive. One thing to watch out for though -
the 600D's .MOV files are pretty huge, typically 5-6Mb per second of
footage. This is one respect in which the more efficient footage
created by certain Panasonic and Sony cameras really scores points.
Handling
As in so many other respects, the 600D's handling marks it out as the latest scion of the Rebel line. It's a familiar, incrementally refined interface that gets most things right but retains a couple of classic Canon quirks. Thankfully most of these little idiosyncrasies are things you can learn to live with - they're annoying as opposed to actually disruptive.
The CA (Creative Auto) mode offers a good stepping stone between the camera-controlled scene modes and the more participatory P,A,S and M modes. If you do venture into these more user-controlled modes, the Q. Menu interface makes it easy to check and change all the key shooting settings. The fact that these can be changed with the control dial, rather than having to dive into sub-menus makes it ever faster to use, once you're familiar with the available options.
The convoluted method for setting White Balance, the inconsistent behavior between viewfinder shooting and live view, and the occasionally perverse choices made in menu prioritization are frustrating but not unforgivable. The camera's grip remains relatively small and occasionally uncomfortable but it's an improvement on some of the older Rebels and isn't something that has ever stopped them selling well. Although it isn't a huge design change, the additional rubber coating on the rear and left hand side of the 600D makes it more comfortable to hold than the T2i/550D, at any rate.
The Final Word
The Rebel T3i / 600D is exactly the camera that we'd expect it to be - it's feature-rich, reasonably priced, enjoyable to use and, most importantly, takes great pictures. It's not a particularly innovative camera but it is a generally well planned one. Unlike the original Rebel / 300D, the T3i doesn't sit in isolation - if you want a smaller or easier-to-use camera, there are plenty of options (including the increasingly competitive mirrorless brigade). However, in keeping with previous models in the range, it's an impressive camera for the money and it's hard not to imagine owners loving theirs.நன்றி:

Introduction
The Apple iPad 2 is about to hit European shelves, fresh form a diet and exercise regime that’s helped it shed weight and build muscle. Faster, thinner and lighter is an accurate account of what’s been going on in the year that divides the two editions of Apple’s tablet.
Apple is taking it easy with the upgrades as usual – everything is carefully planned to ensure smooth traffic of new and repeat customers. It’s weirdly inconsistent with the hype about every new release. Anyway, faster-thinner-lighter is a fair deal to offer new users without making the original iPad adopters feel duped.It’s a sequel from the creators of a blockbuster. The iPad 2 is in no mood to start a revolution. But evolution should be good enough considering the original iPad is yet to be beaten.

The list of disadvantages of any iOS device is the usual long read. Apple’s iOS has limitations that we all have to live with. Apple will never bring Flash support, allow regular file management or make iTunes (or at least the mandatory cable connection) optional. As to the actual iPad 2, if you want real GPS functionality you have no choice but to opt for the 3G-enabled model, which adds $120 to the regular bill.
But if you’re willing to forgive the shortcomings, the iPad 2 brings both a performance upgrade and a redesign. The tablet is powered by the new Apple A5 SoC, with a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, PoverVR SGX543MP2 graphics and 512MB RAM.
The Apple iPad 2 comes to address one of the main issues of the original iPad: weight. And while the handling is improved we’re less certain about the aesthetics. True, it’s an impressively thin tablet (slimmer than the iPhone 4) but uses the older generation iPhone design.
Anyway, the speed boost is all there and we’ve
enjoyed some impressive performance in our early tests. The Facetime
video-calls and 720p videos are nice add-ons too. Unfortunately, higher
screen resolution is too much of an upgrade to ask for in only the
second release. The iPad 2 has its ups and downs but, like it or not, it will sell in
millions just like the original. But Apple is probably keeping a wary
eye on the Android army readying a massive deployment in the coming
months. Our first Apple iPad review was posted in our blog. Sure, our blog
was only just starting at the time and needed a boost. But that’s only
one side to the story. Tablets back then just couldn’t match phones and
weren’t ready for primetime. Look at them now. Nearly every maker and
platform is taking tablets seriously. So, Apple has done it again. This can be a simple statement, said in a
flat level tone. As in Apple’s second tablet brings a few upgrades. Or,
you can go all caps and multiple exclamation marks. As in, Apple has
again set the standard for others to follow. Apple sold millions of the first iPad. In just two days, the iPad 2
was out of stock in the US. And these are not the original iPad owners
chucking their old tablet in the bin and lining up for the new one. The
iPad 2 isn’t meant for them. It does not upgrade the first-gen gadget –
its goal is to convert NEW users. The updated iPad 2 doubles the processing power and gets FaceTime and
HD video. The speed boost is tangible but developers are yet to use its
full potential. The real benefit of the newly-added cameras is
FaceTime. HD video recording is not essential on a tablet really. You
know, most of the iPad owners are likely to have a more portable gadget
capable of capturing HD video. Essentially, it all comes down to your own definition of portable.
Some will like their tablet always at an arm’s length away in the living
room. Others will gladly take it out but most likely carry it in a bag,
not in the pocket or hanging around the neck. So much for shooting a
quick video. In portability terms a tablet comes between phones, netbooks, and
laptops. Combinations between these gadgets can vary but a tablet always
seems to be the least essential. But are people having second thoughts?
Do they take long to be convinced? No, sir. And Apple does deserve
credit for that. The iPad 2 is virtually competition-free for now. Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets, save for the Motorola XOOM,
are still in the works. Motorola rushed the XOOM launch to counter the
new iPad and ended up with no Flash and compatible apps. The XOOM is
effectively an unsupported tablet for the time being. And to make
matters worse, it’s prohibitively expensive. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9
are scheduled for June release. They both look capable of seriously
challenging the iPad 2 and we hope Android 3.0 will have the desired
level of support in time for their launch. They deserve it. Android Honeycomb is quite a looker, has almost
none of the restrictions of the iOS and is already reaping the benefits
of a solid developer community. It has its flaws too – the Market has
still to catch up, developers need to accommodate different resolutions
and hardware differences. Android Honeycomb is a dedicated tablet platform while iPads use an
upscaled smartphone OS. Droid tablets will certainly get an edge from an
OS designed from ground up to make better use of screen estate. But
it’s Apple that seems to be a step ahead of the competition so far. Like
it or not, Apple has done it again.Final words

The arrival of the D5100 appears to signal the completion of Nikons refresh of its non-pro DSLR lineup. Its feature set and pricing mean that it sits very comfortably between the beginner-friendly D3100 and the high-end D7000 - it's clearly aimed to attract the attention of enthusiast photographers without cannibalizing sales of is sister models. The official line is that the D90 maintains its position in the range, but both its naming and overlap with other models suggest that its role is now more one of historical interest than future significance.
The D5100 has a very similar 16.2MP CMOS sensor to the excellent one seen in the D7000 but, understandably, loses out on that camera's high-end build and feature-set. So there's no wireless flash control, magnesium alloy build or 39-point AF system but the underlying image quality looks to be the same.
As has become standard for a Nikon at this price point, the D5100 offers a single control dial, pentamirror viewfinder and no built-in autofocus motor. However, it gains 1080p video capability (at 30, 25 or 24fps), saved using the efficient H.264/AVC codec, and a 920,000 dot fully articulated LCD panel to help shoot it. These are both significant gains over its predecessor the D5000, and the improvements extend to the D5100 having smaller, neater construction and a more conventional side-mounted hinge for that LCD.
These changes resolve two rather awkward aspects of Nikon's existing lineup: if the D5100 and D7000 end up being neighboring models it will avoid the inelegant overlap that existed between the D5000 and D90. It also ensures a more elegant appearance to the models themselves (the D5000 was many things, but pretty wasn't one of them).
Although the D5100 is listed as having an Expeed 2 processor, it's worth remembering that Nikon doesn't use this naming system to denote any specific components, so the actual chunks of silicon and capabilities aren't necessarily the same as those in the D3100 or D7000. However, in addition to a similarly specced 16.2MP sensor, the D5100 offers the same ISO settings as its big brother - extending up to an equivalent of ISO 25,600. It also inherits 14-bit Raw shooting - one of the factors that helps give the D7000 its impressive dynamic range - which is something Nikon used to offer only on its more expensive models.

Compared to D5000
The D5100 is a smaller and (we think) more attractive camera than
its predecessor the D5000. It is less bulbous, and closer to the D3100
and D7000 in terms of styling. The most significant design difference is
the addition of a side-hinging LCD screen in the D5100, as opposed to
the bulkier (and more awkward) bottom-hinged LCD used in the D5000.
