Ahh thats funny because I was thinking the same thing. Good decision. Its a hot rod, but unique and also hard to find replacements. Learning a sport is hard enough, much less with more things to deal with.
With $400 you can get a decent bike thats standard platform to work from. A Panasonic is still not a bad idea in that case either, or a Centurion IronMan for example, which is Panasonic made and a great middle end bomb proof. Or you can go modern and pay 2x as much for a bike new.
Study up none the less on your choice and get opinions outside of bike shops. Don't fall for the hype and super aero expensive stuff, save 90% and get 99% the bike.
