hello to all,

wanted to put a topic on takao ono master frame builder under my
panasonic team cheblo artnature discussions...

surely he deserves to have his own thread here.

when i have found his photo...i will post here.

zac wants to know if his bikes are made by T.ONO

see some of these links...and see location of sticker bearing T.ONO's
signature.

he is a master framebuilder...and still works for Panasonic (rose from
ranks he no longer make bike frames) ...i lost contact and cant find
any email since 2005..he writes letters and send postcards...but do
not correspond to emails.

yellowjersey mentions Takao Ono

http://www.yellowjersey.org/pana.html

and yes there is an example with photo of Matsushita bicycle in
extremely fine condition made by T ONO

hahahaha zac,

sorry if i made the impression.. wish i do but i dont own the TAKAO
ONO demountable pannie (ahead of its time?) made by takao
ono...although if i had seen it earlier..surely i will place a bid on
it.

nah sadly i dont own the FIRST custom build in the US either ...again
signed by T ONO. :o)

but i do own before my own bicycle shop..and i do race bicycles :-)

check out

http://rocka1bikeshop.blogspot.com/2010/05/tour-of-friendship-2010-may-1-5-in.html

so people know i like vintage bikes..and PANASONIC so people bring
bikes to me.

sadly have to close the bikeshop..due to other work commitments.

however on occasions i do pick up nice Japanese, Italian machines
also...for safekeeping (for sale to vintage bike collector friends)

Precious metals like Zunow..i cant resist the temptations but that
will be another story.

..me think its better buy precious metals than buying myself an
expensive art painting to put on blank wall.

Plus i do sometimes organize VINTAGE BIKE RIDES..with the groovy folks
( eccentric collectors here in manila)

my sister in California..have not been to US..but im still
young..maybe ill do a long bike ride there one day.

thanks for reading my postings.

Hi Ray,
Don't mean to speak for everyone certainly, but I enjoy reading your stuff as i am sure others do.
I get a big laugh from your email style (which I do understand just fine-good English writing)
because there is a guy on this site (you know who you are Bobbish!) and he writes the exact same, but
much harder to understand-he is English.
For me Panasonics are special because of Matsushita and his story and how he started with bicycles and
never compromised even though the market demanded reduced quality. In USA Panasonic was not really
known to be hot rods because the Italians had the high end market cornered while Panni was here.
Every Panasonic I have owned I enjoyed much and problem free.
There are a few guys here who love 80's hot rods. Between us we have some neat bicycles I think, from all
over, but to me Panasonic, Miyata and Fuji are my favorites (80's). I consider those the best of bicycle design
to this day actually.
There is one guy here is is USA Masters 2009 Champion in Track racing, and one guy owns a bike shop and has
some very special vintage bicycle, but its not for me to say.
I have a DeRosa and Cinelli, custom bikes here and some others, but my all time favorite is a late 70s, middle of the line Panasonic
of all things-Sometimes the bicycle chooses us.
Zunows are beautiful and rare here in the states. I have seen  only one up close my friend owned.
I knew the bike was not yours on the site, but its still a neat bicycle indeed. I need a decal- couple actually.
It is good to hear people are keeping vintage bicycles around, because the new Fixie thing here in the states has destroyed
many a classic bicycle that was converted to a curb jumper. Hopefully they will buy TIG Surly's and leave the lugged classics
to us.
thanks for sharing.

hello to all,

zzzzz...slept late till 1am...found the Zunoh kept inside closet of a
friend for a year...he disassembled it it was equipped with poor
condition shimano 105..placed shimano 105 inside carton box then
offered the lot piece meal..over at biketrades.com.ph the filipino
online trades shop, ..so imagine my surprise when i went there to get
me the white rolls saddle...a zunoh lurks behind his door....of course
i didnt go home without bringing home the zunoh (80s spade on the O)
gun metal grey..subtle colors...not garish neon..my size...SOLD to
me...ill take it home...had long night putting my NOS campy..try build
it as a project so i can post later in the Zunoh gallery...off topic
already but am sure frame builder TAKAO ONO would be interested as
well when he finds this thread.

there are 40-50 people in manila..collecting vintage steel bikes.

the trend will continue..so long as somebody like me organize a
vintage bike ride...so people bring their nice steel stuff on
occasions swap around and deal their unwanted parts over to fellow
collectors.

nice vintage steel bikes meant to be ridden.

specially when its your size...:-)

big size things i get if i dont see them often..then sell to taller
friends.

thanks so much for all the compliment.

i speak halting english...because im not american......but easily
readable i pressume...:-)

eureka..i did find the photo of TAKAO ONO.

yes i post here shortly.

and why does takao ono write to raymond see in manila.?

we are both scholarly paper ephemera collectors....belonging the the
google group BICYCLE STAMPS CLUB USA

Takao Ono collects some of the RAREST postage stamps in the world with
a Bicycle or a Cyclist on it.

he sometimes consults me for my opinion on his purchases..ill tell him
if its a sweet deal or not....:o)

because I collect the same.

i have the WORLD CLASS postage stamp exhibit on the international
website...on permanent display hopefully for 100 years...anything on
the internet will outlive us all..so i make it a point send all
details via a website of every inch of research work i do..be it on a
Panasonic..a Zunoh...or paper ephemera as well....

see here...over 25 years of research, swapping, buying done by the
collector raymond see to produce this work

http://www.japhila.cz/hof/0208/index0208a.htm
DE LA DRAISIENNE A NOS JOURS / EXPONET

if you do check out the link...you will see some of the paper ephemera
includes NATIONAL PANASONIC official advertising POSTAL CARDS sent to
me directly from Japan signed/authographed by my friend TAKAO
ONO....:-)

Ray you write identical to my friend. You keep confusing me with him.
You are quite a collector and expert it sounds like. Have you seen the site
moderator Darren's bikes?
Takao Ono is a man i would sure like to have build me a NJS track bike,
even if i have one. You sure found an amazing bike in that Zunoh.
Maybe now you don't need the Gerarrdi Regal in white?
You really should show us all your cool bikes me thinks.
i once rode for a team with a Big Postage stamp on the front.
Maybe I will trade Takao for a NOS Louie Armstong USPS Skinsuit.
Kinda doubt it..2? 3?
Yep you are a great reasource indeed and if its ok I would like to email
you sometime at your yahoo if ok.

What is this? Is the group full of crazies? Who is monitoring group communication? You people, give one another your addresses and communicate privately. As I understand it, this group's mission has to do with Panasonic bicycles, not doublespeak and experiments in punctuation.

Yes, this IS in fact a group of crazies. I'm monitoring this group as
well as several other much larger automotive based groups.

One thing I have learned over the years as a large user group admin is
that spelling and punctuation "police" is an exercise in futility...
especially when dealing with group members for whom English is not a
first language.

The thread has been pretty interesting thus far without TOO much
off-topic material in terms of the signal to noise ratio.

The group is about bikes. Panasonic bikes in particular. That
includes all who ride them, collect them, restore them etc. As long
as things don't sway too far off topic for too long I don't get too
worried about it.

Ride safe everyone,
