Where are we headed now?

But now that the track record of our authorities reveals that relying on their competence alone would be a bad strategy for us, how do we break out of our longstanding habits and forge off on our own to make our own decisions? The key, again, is to begin by trusting yourself and then acting on what you know to be true, beginning with small steps.

Motley Fools say, maybe time to move to a low cost country!

Moving to more affordable countries such as Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, The Philippines, Costa Rica, or Thailand will also become more attractive to those whose portfolios were compromised in this last financial meltdown.
Costa Rica taking hit

Since the economic crisis hit Costa Rica investment hard, halting tourist and residential projects and scaring off million dollar real estate development plans, several projects have managed to stay afloat with a positive outlook for the future of tourism in the country.

U.S. tax grip to tighten on going offshore

An expected consequence of the economic turmoil is the governments desire to close the net and keep any money from escaping their clutches. Here is the first of many articles that will cry foul for offshore tax havens and righteously demand they be shut down. The only people who should and will be able to use them are the sleazy politicians who are screaming the loudest for their demise.

I told you so..

An article today in La Estralla is one of the first in the local press to break through the silence by the RE industry and admit that things have fallen apart. The high end luxury apartments are in trouble and as many project have intentionally slowed down and others will probably not be finished.

THE PARTY'S OVER

The Crash of 2008, which is now wiping out trillions of dollars of our people's wealth, is, like the Crash of 1929, likely to mark the end of one era and the onset of another. The new era will see a more sober and much diminished America. The 'Omnipower' and 'Indispensable Nation' we heard about in all the hubris and braggadocio following our Cold War victory is history.

Shipping industry prepares for economic turnaround

This is the headline of the article from the Tampa Bay Business journal and the circular reasoning is that they are preparing for a turn around because Panama is widening the canal.
