Panama Predictions for 2009
Read what I believe lies ahead for Panama in regard to real estate, crime, politics, immigration, lifestyle, the canal, banking and other important aspect of life in Panama.

'Atlas Shrugged': From Fiction to Fact in 52 Years
WSJ: Politicians invariably respond to crises -- that in most cases they themselves created -- by spawning new government programs, laws and regulations. These, in turn, generate more havoc and poverty, which inspires the politicians to create more programs . . . and the downward spiral repeats itself until the productive sectors of the economy collapse under the collective weight of taxes and other burdens imposed in the name of fairness, equality and do-goodism.

ACP predicts economy will be OK by 2010
This article from Lloyd's provides us with some insight into what the ACP is thinking and in my opinion and many others, that thinking is rather flawed. They predict world trade will be back on track by 2010. Of course they have a vested interest in predicting a rosy future as they sold the people of Panama on the necessity of the canal expansion.

Shipping rates hit zero as trade sinks
"Shipping journal Lloyd's List said brokers in Singapore are now waiving fees for containers travelling from South China, charging only for the minimal "bunker" costs. Container fees from North Asia have dropped $200, taking them below operating cost."

Autrailia reports on Panama
Many people see the scenery of Panama only in passing, from the deck of a cruise ship passing through the Panama Canal. But if you take the time to visit, you'll find even more scenic countryside, tropical birds and plants, and reefs for diving.

And the good news is....
I want to start off with some good news and that would be that the Boquete fair is back on track and there are lots of visitors. The local business owners came together with the mayors office to rebuild and clean up the entire fairgrounds within two weeks.

Did you know there is a new country in Central America and it has
quickly become the top retirement destination in the western
hemisphere? Be sure to visit the Republic of Chiriqui and find
out why. http://m1e.net/c?88452906-W4IlYhXFtdep2%403903978-APS/UQ3SbxbTc
