Dear all,

I am very happy to announce this year's winner of the plagiarism
detection task who will be awared 500,- Euros sponsored by Yahoo!
Research.

The winners are Gabriel Oberreuter, Gaston L'Huillier, Sebastian Rios,
and Juan Velasquez from the University of Chile.
Congratulations from all of us at PAN and Yahoo!

This year, like back in 2009, the plagiarism detection task was
divided into two sub-tasks for external plagiarism detection and
intrinsic plagiarism detection. This is why we had to combine the
participant's performances from both tasks in order to determine the
winner. There was a close competition between Gabriel's group and the
group of Jan Grman who developed the best performing plagiarism
detector on the external plagiarism detection sub-task.

In the end, the outstanding performance of Gabriel's group in
intrinsic plagiarism detection as well as their reasonable performance
in external plagiarism detection put them in lead. Since both
sub-tasks have their own challenges and difficulties with regard to
research and development both were weighted equally when computing the
combined plagdet scores.
Here is the final ranking among all participants:

Score Participant
0.336 G. Oberreuter et al.
0.278 J. Grman and R. Ravas
0.208 C. Grozea and M. Popescu
0.134 P. Gupta et al.
0.123 L. Gillam et al.
0.117 D.A.R. Torrejón and J.M. Martín Ramos
0.095 Y. Palkovskii et al.
0.084 K. Luyckx et al.
0.042 N. Akiva
0.040 R.M.A. Nawab et al.
0.001 S. Bandyopadhyay and A. Ghosh

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for participating this
year. We're looking forward to meeting all of you in Amsterdam in
September.

Best,
Martin
on behalf of PAN
