Hi,

Recently I've been trying to run codeml on my computer (macOS Catalina). I keep receiving the message "bad CPU type in executable", which seems to be related to compatibility to the current mac system. Is there any way to allow codeml to work?
(I tried the suggestion in the Google top hit page, which asked me to change the shell to zsh, but that didn't help.)

Thanks a lot for help!

FYI, I also use macOS Catalina and never encountered this error message running CODEML. I use version 4.9i (of PAML) and it runs well.
It might be related to another issue, and less likely to incompatibility with the OS.

perhaps you need to compile the executables yourself.  can you get a local mac expert to help you?
i haven't used a mac for some years and am not up to date with the current status.  if your mac osx installation comes with a c compiler (gcc or clang) it will be a matter of copying the compiling commands onto the terminal.

I just found this post - I got the same "bad CPU type in executable" error when I tried using paml4.8a.macosx.tgz , but I managed to compile on Mac OS 11.4 easily as follows

1. downloaded and unpacked paml4.9j.tgz
2. cd src
3. make
