Here is what happened. I have a 2007 Ford edge SE. The other day my wife went out to lunch and everything was fine with the car. She got back to work, and then a few hours later she had to leave again. She tried to unlock the edge with the keyfob and it wouldn't work. So then she manually stuck the key in the lock and tried to turn it to unlock the door and it would not turn. So basically there was NO way to get into the car. She had to call a tow truck guy to come unlock the car. He put his little car unlock tool between the window and door panel and did his thing and unlocked the car for us. So my wife gets in and starts it up and everything is fine. No dead battery or anything. Then she locked it up and tried the keyfob again and this time it worked but she could not unlock it manually with the key still. My question is, how can the keyfob just not work all of a sudden and whats up with the key lock? Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks in advance.

That the fob didn't work and then did, could be a weak battery. Don't know of what it could be otherwise as it works now. Perhaps the battery is weak and she was too far away to talk to the car, but was closer on the last attempt.

2007 key fob. If the battery has never been changed then the battery is dead. Door lock most likely did not work because it has grime or garbage in it because it is never used. Try changing the battery in both and getting a lock cleaner or lubricant to spray it and clean it out then work the key in and out.

Carol,

Did you try the keypad on the driver's door? Enter your personal or the factory code.
Once you're in the Edge if it still won't start put the fob in the tray at the bottom of the center console 'then' try the Start button again. If the Edge starts now you can be pretty certain the batteries in both of your fobs are goners. If those batteries have never been replaced it's probably about time anyway.

This happened to me this morning. However, I will preface that by saying that my key fob died about a year ago and I've been using the manual key hole for that long with no problems. Then about a month ago, my car door ajar warning was persistent nearly every time I opened and closed the door. No rhyme or reason as to how hard or soft to close the door to get it to "engage". Can't lock the door if the car doesn't think the door is closed. I have a 2011. This door ajar issue is a known issue with Ford, so much so that a petition was submitted to issue a recall. Ford won't do it. Ford Edge's made after 2011 have the issue that if the door is ajar, the doors won't lock and the dome lights won't go off while driving. Dangerous for night driving and having kids in the car that can open doors. 2011 and older don't have the door lock and lights issue. I think the door ajar issue is related to the manual key not functioning...has something to do with the mechanics and electronics in the door lock mechanism. Infuriating that Ford knows this is an issue for 10 years worth of cars and won't fix the issue. AAA came this morning and got me in, car started just fine, lights work, all the things were fine. I just can't lock the door because I won't be able to get back in to it.

I have had 4 Fords with remote keyless entry - (Focus, Explorer, Expedition) and now Edge and never has the "key fob" unlock button broken. Now Ford service is saying I have to buy a new key ($450) because both keys are broken (unlock button only) all other buttons work fine - The is unacceptable and Ford needs to replace the key at no cost to me as this has to be a flaw in the manufacture of the key. Has anyone experienced this similar case? so I start a recall/replacement action. Please respond.

My 2003 S2000 got treated to a brand new Honda battery today. A couple of days ago when I tried to start-up the S2000, the old battery seemed a bit weak. And it makes sense because the prior owner had replaced it before I took ownership and that was 5 years ago!

This part takes patience. The outside holes get drilled from the inside of the trunk lid. There are two small alignment marks that get center-punched and drilled. This allows trial fitting the spoiler and marking the center holes with furnished adhesive discs. This second set took some extra careful attention!

The wing kit comes with two replacement torsion bars (the springs) and an optional wrench to install them with. The kit states the new torsion bars account for the extra weight added to the outside edge of the trunk. I found this is not really a big deal. So, I passed on the new torsion bar springs and will just hang on to them until needed. This is what the springs and the tool look like..

Impressive! After all, this is F1 DNA shit; this technology hails from the glory days of McLaren/Honda and Ayrton Senna. It took none other than the boys from Maranello to build an engine that would produce more horsepower per liter than the F20C.

Soon after I acquired my S2000, I bought a pair of extended length floor mats. These mats are longer and cover the reinforcement beam in the floor of the S2000 protecting the factory carpet. One drawback is the colour is a little off, but who cares? I rather protect the carpet from wear and tear.

As you can see in this picture, the tray fits just perfectly between the reinforcement beam and the seat frame pad. This little tray will now prevent my wallet and iPhone from sliding under the seat. Added benefit is this all fits under the carpet mat and is within easy reach.

I need to get some stick-on Velcro on the back of the tray and that will lock it down for good to the factory carpet. But overall I think it is going to work just fine. Oh and the part was about $14 on eBay. I think this is a keeper!

I really like the way this looks now. I wish there were an option from CoverCraft to allow for this, especially since they do such a nice job at dressing all the edges on the sunshade. I suppose this would not take much effort, especially since they accounted for the opening for the rear view mirror.

The existing building required extensive modifications to turn it into a state of the art production premises needed to support the expansion of the company. As well as production area, the building also need to accommodate an amenity area to house the offices, meeting rooms, offices & QA Labs.

All the incoming services needed to be upgraded to meet the new electrical and mechanical demands of the new facility. This meant increased High voltage (HV) & incoming water capacity as well as installing a new steam main from the existing factory to support the new hot water, HVAC and tray wash plant. Due to the limited height of the building, all services within the production area below the amenities mezzanine deck needed careful co-ordination and a high-quality finish as were all surface mounted.

The project had to be planned in detail to avoid clashes with other trades due to the timescale of the project and the limited space available. All services designs were developed alongside the client to ensure that the new facility could meet the expected production output.

Always carry your vehicle key with you. Your vehicle recognises your digital key without the need to unlock your mobile device. The key functions are available even when the battery is empty and without an internet connection.

Share your digital key with up to five friends via a simple text message. The recipient uses a smartphone from a different manufacturer or with a different operating system? No problem. The digital key can be shared across platforms.

You have the option of sharing a digital key with limited rights, for example to increase safety for a novice driver. If the function is activated, acceleration is generally reduced and the maximum speed is limited, among other things.

With Great Entrance Moments, your BMW welcomes you as soon as you approach the vehicle. The function switches on the lights, unlocks the doors, starts a welcome animation and loads your personal BMW ID profile settings.

Information on availability in your BMW can be found in the My BMW app. Further information on smartphone and smartwatch compatibility is available in the further FAQs. In some countries and/or regions, the radio technology for BMW Digital Key Plus (UWB) is not permitted. Due to legal requirements, functionality may be restricted there. In these cases, NFC guarantees access to the vehicle. To do this, hold the smartphone against the outside door handle.

Your digital key is securely stored on the Secure Element of your smartphone. In addition, both NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology are used to establish the immediate proximity of the sender and receiver in a tamper-proof manner.

Initially, Digital Key Plus was exclusively available for Apple devices. However, starting from 2023, BMW extended the compatibility of Digital Key Plus to include Samsung and Google devices running Android 13.1 or later. You can find more information about Digital Key on Samsung devices here.

You can use your smartphone to unlock and start your vehicle even if the device needs to be charged. If your smartphone's battery is very low, it switches to power-saving mode. With the right setting, you can still use it as a key for several hours afterwards.

If the function is activated when sharing a key, the following functions are restricted in their entirety: Acceleration is basically reduced and the top speed is limited to approx. 145 km/h. In addition, vehicle safety systems such as DSC and DTC cannot be deactivated by the driver. In addition, the maximum volume is reduced to approx. 65 %.

The Key Card is an NFC card that acts as a vehicle key independently of your digital key on your smartphone. It comes deactivated with your vehicle from the factory and can be activated or deactivated as required. It is particularly useful in the event of a service or for the parking service. The key card is activated by a classic vehicle key or an active digital key via the smartphone tray. An active key card should never be left in the vehicle.
