Dear Friends,
Move the Money NYC is supporting the Poor People’s Campaign in a “Moral March on Wall Street” this Monday, April 11 at 4:30 pm. We want to have a robust presence at the march and rally, so we are urging all our coalition partners to encourage your members to be present. You’ll find MTM at 2 Broadway, across from the Museum of the American Indian, where we’ll gather with our banner before joining the main march. Bring your signs saying where you want to see your tax dollars go instead of to war. Check out the PPC's web site for COVID protocols and to register for the march.
Building on Dr. Martin Luther King's condemnation of the “giant triplets of racism, excessive materialism, and militarism,” the Poor People’s Campaign has added ecological devastation in demanding the changes needed to give all our people a decent life. This is exactly what our campaign to Move the Money from war to communities is about, and why we are committed to supporting the Poor People’s Campaign.
We can never achieve racial and social justice or address the climate crisis until the U.S. government changes its priorities away from spending more than half its discretionary budget on the military and nuclear weapons. Our Move the Money resolution will put the New York City Council on record opposing this cynical misallocation of our tax money as the city government slashes the budget for our public services. Help us make some noise!
