Dear Peace Action,

You may just be getting started this morning and just learning about a major escalation by the U.S. Administration and the U.S. military against Iran -- with the assassination of Iranian General Qassim Soleimani at the Baghdad Airport overnight. He has been described as the 2nd most important person in Iran, after the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

We need to speak out against this escalation and illegal assassination. If the NDAA amendment to prohibit unauthorized attacks on Iran had been kept in the final NDAA, this might not have happened.

We can start this morning by calling on our Reps and Senators to ask them to condemn this escalation. Congressional Switchboard is (202) 224-3121.

Code Pink (before the assassination) in NYC was calling for a demonstration on Saturday, Jan 4 at 11 am at Times Square. See details below.

Dear commanders, friends, and colleagues,

>> You can RSVP HERE <<

In response to the massive protests in Iraq following the latest U.S. aerial assault that killed scores of Iraqis, the Trump administration launched airstrikes on the Iraqi militia group that killed 25 members. The strikes violated U.S. law since they were carried out without any congressional approval. To make matters worse, the Trump administration announced it is sending 750 more troops to the Middle East and possibly another 4,000. This is in addition to the 5,200 U.S. troops already stationed in Iraq.

In the past 28 years, more than a million Iraqis have died as a consequence of U.S. occupation, bombings, and sanctions and tens of thousands of U.S. troops have either been killed or suffered life-changing wounds. The U.S. government has spent more than $3 trillion in the on-going occupation and bombing of this oil-rich country. Instead of taking the United States out of this endless war, Trump is building up U.S. forces in the region and threatening war with Iran.

Join us and our coalition partners this Saturday, January 4th to demand U.S. troops to get out of Iraq! We'll be in Time Square, New York City with our “ NO U.S. War In Iraq! Been There, Done That” signs and our message for peace!

If you cannot attend the action on Saturday, Please Contact your representatives and tell them you oppose U.S. military attacks in Iraq!

Please feel free to reach me out for any questions, concerns or insights via email at En...@codepink.org or via phone at (412) 245-8931, and I am looking forward to meeting you in person.
