Just want to make sure you all saw this. Below is the message that was sent out a few minutes ago to the NYC Protect the Results coalition list.

The NYC rally and march tomorrow will be part of the more than 100 actions taking place across the country. While celebrating the real wins our social changes movements have worked so hard for we also know the coming weeks might bring serious challenges. And beyond that, we need to start preparing now for how we will be most effective in pressuring a Biden administration on a truly progressive agenda.

Please do what you can to get the word out about tomorrow’s march! Thanks everyone…

————————

The voters decided- it seems more than likely that Donald Trump is defeated, and Joe Biden will soon be the President-elect of the United States of America.

And yet, Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy and Ted Cruz are lining up behind Donald Trump’s pathetic, false narrative of voter fraud. Trump supporters- spurred on by the President’s reckless, wild objections- have been apprehended en route to ballot counting locations with violent intent. The transition period will be a treacherous one.

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 7th we will gather at Columbus Circle at 1 pm to rally and march with two key messages:

• We rejoice that the voters have decided to embrace change and reject Donald Trump’s bigotry, corruption and incompetence.
• We stand with firm resolve against any attempt to interfere in the rightful will of the people to choose our elected leaders.

The coalition that will gather tomorrow is a diverse one led by groups including community organizations, labor unions and more, supported by the broad NYC Protect the Results Coalition. We encourage you to regard this as a show of strength, and also a festive occasion: bring your music, props, costumes, balloons, flowers, and fun.

It’s going to be a beautiful day in New York City as we turn a page together, and recommit ourselves to the fight ahead to achieve our goals as a coalition and as a City.
  • WHAT: VOTERS DECIDE RALLY & MARCH
  • WHEN: 1 PM, Saturday, 7 November 2020
  • WHERE: Columbus Circle (map)
  • WHY: Celebrate the People’s Will; Vow to Defend It!
Help us spread the word: call your friends, and share this link widely: http://bit.ly/protestnyc

We fought for years to get to this point but the battle is not over. We have a profound amount of work to do to address the injustices that plague our country. But we must also allow ourselves to acknowledge this moment- delivered to us in large part by Black and other voters of color in key districts across the country. We join together to rejoice in their resolve, and to stand firm against anyone that would challenge it.

In solidarity-
The NYC Protect the Results Coalition

We may encounter hecklers and counter-protestors. Don't take the bait! Be ready:

• Watch the training videos “De-Escalation & Safety Tactics” here. The slide deck for the De-escalation and Safety training is here.
• Ensure that you know your rights with resources from the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild.

Wish I could. I love to march, but with my walker, I could not keep up. Also, thanks to you and the journal designer, the event journal was magnificent.
