Dear Peace Action,
I want to share with you a note from Joseph Gerson after a NYC organizing meeting last week for the World Conference to Abolish Nuclear Weapons | Resist and Reverse Climate Change | For Social and Economic Justice - April 24-26. There is flyer information and registration information below. Also, send to any NYC based groups you are connected with to attend our next meeting on Feb. 13. As the host town, we here in NYC are taking our role seriously :)

Subject: Follow Up From January 9 World Conference & Rally Meeting
To:

Friends,

I am writing to follow up on our remarkable World Conference and rally organizing meeting held last week at the Bernie Wohl Center. The energy and commitments that many of you brought to the meeting was inspiring, as were each of the opening talks. THANK YOU!!

Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 13, 2020 back at the Bernie Wohl Center, 647 Columbus Ave, Manhattan, from 6:30 pm to 8:30.

With the first meetings of our outreach, rally, and action working groups, we’ve taken our organizing to a new level. We look forward to the working groups continuing their collaborations between now and February 13, when we will again kick off compelling and inspiring reports and reconvene our working groups.

Then to several follow up items:

1.     Just a reminder: The World Conference will be at The Riverside Church, April 24 & 25. Our rally, march and petitions presentation Sunday afternoon, April 26.

2.     Planning for the World Conference, rally and related events is coming along well. The preliminary conference agenda is attached and will be posted on the website in the course of the weekend. You and your friends can register for the conference at: https://tinyurl.com/vwejcbn (please spread the word...)

3.     For outreach purposes, you can access printer friendly and more dramatic outreach flyers at worldconference2020.org. Yet another is being designed in time for distribution at next week’s climate crisis meetings in New York City.

4.     For those of you who couldn’t make our last meeting or who had to leave early, we’ve attached our list of volunteer needs. If you’ll be able to lend a hand, please shoot off a note to Aziz Dehkan at eighty...@gmail.com, to let him know which of these responsibilities you’d like to take on.

5.     Finally, in addition to letting people know about your organization’s campaigning at our monthly meetings, we want to give you a heads up that we will have a program booklet at the World Conference with the agenda, workshop listings, etc. To help pay for it and our mobilization, the booklet will organizations’ adverts/notices at a reasonable price. Keep your eyes open for information about how you can let activists across the country and from France to the Philippines know about your initiatives.

For the organizing committee,

Joseph Gerson

Dear Sally, Joseph, Florindo, Jerry,
I have changed the date that Off the Radar, the anti-Iraq war play is set to be read at the
Bernie Wohl Theater in April from Friday April 24 to Thursday, April 23.A leaflet will be forwarded to you soon.
In this way anyone coming to NYC early or in NYC already will have the opportunity to
come to the play, and I will be able to attend the Plenary at Riverside Church on Friday night.
I would appreciate it if you could make this information available to any groups or individuals
you know who will be involved and may be coming earlier than April 25. I realize one of the
main reasons the World Conference is on the weekend is so that students and workers can
come. See you at the meeting on the 13th.
Thanks so much,
Lionelle
