Today, Friday, June 5, is Saga Dawa Düchen, the anniversary of Shakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment at Bodh Gaya and Paranirvana at Kushinagara. We celebrate the anniversary of these sacred occurrences on the full moon, the 15th day, of the fourth Tibetan month which falls on the 5th of June this year.
The energy of the activities of the Buddha are so powerful and have helped so many beings, and by our own connection to him, any merit we accumulate on this day is considered to multiply 100,000 times or more. Through our virtuous activity especially on this day, we can radiate the joy of the profound peace of enlightenment throughout our world for everyone.
If you would like to accumulate merit and join in the practices on this special day, you can do any of the following:
- Join practice online (scroll down for programs)
- Do not eat meat
- Feed and save the lives of animals
- Recite the Mantra of the Buddha (Om Muni Muni Maha Muni Soha)
Below are Palyul programs webcast from Canada and the United States that you can participate in online during this sacred time (all times are Eastern Time - visit www.timeanddate.com to find out the schedule in your local area):

We consider this day to be a great opportunity to generate positive energy through conducting positive thoughts, speech and deeds. Indeed, merit generated from positive activities such as reciting prayers, saving lives, practicing vegetarianism, not harming others but helping them, and so on is amplified on this day. We hope you will join us in practice and dedication of the merit to the entire world and all motherly sentient beings.
