The Palyul Retreat Center has held a Nyungne Purification and Fasting retreat during July 4th weekend every year since 2000. This year, thanks to the kind willingness of our teachers and the capabilities of webcasting technology, we can plan to continue. The Nyungne retreat will be held virtually via webcast so that you can attend from your home.
Khen Rinpoche Tenzin Norgay will be the vajra master accompanied by Dorje Lopon Lama Sochuk, Lopon Rapjee Wangchuk, Lama Jigme Kunsang and Lama Kunzang Wangdi with Lama Pasang Tenzin as chantmaster.
Nyungne is a purification and fasting retreat that originated centuries ago with a highly-realized nun named Gelongma Palmo. This life-changing practice involves complete fasting (no water or food for 36 hours) and complete silence (we only engage in chanting practice and do not speak at all). It gives us the means to begin to arouse compassion within us for all sentient beings.
