Powell Garden Inaugral Cleanup Extravaganza

Good Afternoon,

It's taken a minute, but the garden space is ready to tackle. There were some logistics that needed to be worked out, including a lock that needed to be removed so we could get in but now DPR has replaced it with a new one, and we are ready to begin our cleanup extravaganza!!

One of the other delays is that we need a map of what's underneath - don't want to have anyone electrocuted...that would be a shocking way to kick-off our garden!. This effort is still in process so at this point we are limited to clearing and cleaning only with NO digging.  I'm guessing there is plenty to do above the soil.

I expect this will be a multi week effort so let's jump in. We are coordinating some tools, but please feel free to bring your own - rakes, hoes, etc. And, please don't forget gloves!!!

We are starting the cleanup process this Friday (10/29) from 5:30PM to dark if there is not rain (please send dry vibes out). Even if you're not into a lot of heavy work, please come out and join us, get to know your community and remember...many hands make light work. I know I'm feeling pretty lazy by Friday so hope to see lots of you out to help!

I was holding out hope this would go the way of DC weather but sadly, it doesn't look like there will be let up in the rain today.
