By the way, in Israel Becometasone inhaler is Qvar inhaler. I hope this is helpful to you all. It was definitely an out of the box idea for me.

I wondered if anyone has any experience please of using the above for stoma inflammation. We discussed a Case Report at our recent journal club and were trying to consider the practical elements of how it would be prescribed and administered.
In addition if any what are your experiences positive or otherwise of using the inhaler in this way
Many Thanks

We have used beclomethasone 50microgram inhaler topically for patients with allergic reaction to adhesive on fentanyl patches with good effect.
The rationale is that this is steroid in a dry from which doesn't affect the adhesion of the patch.
Use one or two puffs directly into the area you want to tick the patch onto to cover the area, this is done at each patch change.
I cannot recall where this advice came from originally, or any references, sorry
Editors note: I suspect the case report was: Boland J and Brooks D (2012) Topical application of a beclometasone steroid inhaler for treatment of stoma inflammation. Palliative Medicine. 26:1055-1056.
