Remember that tonight (11/3) is the November General Membership
meeting of the Palisades Citizens' Association. 7:30 at the
Palisades Rec Center.
We'll be discussing a draft resolution, just published in the PCA
newsletter, that requests an extended moratorium on Pepco tree
pruning, removal, and construction in the Palisades until the PCA's
previous concerns are addressed more fully.
Full text of the resolution is below, and also uploaded to the PCA
page. Also on tap tonite is a presentation from Sibley on their
proposed new 'Pavilion' addition.

Draft Resolution for Consideration at November 3 PCA General Meeting
RESOLVED:
The Palisades Citizens Association strongly believes that an informed
dialogue with stakeholders is a prerequisite for improv¬ing
reliability while protecting our green spaces and tree cover, and that
solutions exist for simultaneously achieving all of these goals. We
stand opposed to any further implementation of Pepco plans in our
community until such a dialogue can take place.
Specifically, the PCA requests Mayor Fenty, the DC Council, and other
DC officials to work with the Palisades community and Pepco to ensure
that:
1. Pepco provides information and data repeatedly requested, as
detailed in PCA correspondence dated July 24.
2. Pepco provides the PCA with an understandable description of all
non-emergency tree-related activities, both for main¬tenance and
construction, in the Palisades neighborhood over the next 24 months,
as well as its long term plans, both for maintenance and construction,
for the next 10 years; and
3. Pepco engages in a serious, meaningful discussion with stakeholders
(including the PCA) to recommend a long-term approach and outline
alternatives for tree-related activities in the Palisades.
The PCA requests Mayor Fenty, the DC Council, and other DC officials
to work with the Palisades community and Pepco to enforce a moratorium
on all Pepco tree pruning, removal, and construction in the Palisades
until such time as this meaningful dialogue has taken place, and data
requested in the letter of July 24 has been fully reviewed.
