The assignment dialog now has a checkbox that lets you add a message.

I've been using that to include a URL to the JIRA issue related to the assignment. Then in JIRA I add a comment "Doc assigned to <name> for review in Paligo." It's not as slick as the two-way JIRA integration we have for Bitbucket, Zendesk, and ReviewBoard, but it gets the job done.

You could also add the URL to the topic in review mode to the JIRA issue.

Doing that led to confusion since only the assignee could access it.

So they can't see the review mode if they don't have an assignment? if the assignment expires, does the link not work?

Paligo limits access to the assigned reviewers.

I've suggested that they add an option so that reviewers can reassign. Obviously in some environments that would be undesirable, but in my company it would be more efficient.

That would be good for us too.
But when it comes to the Review mode, what I REALLY want is to let the writer set the variables and attributes for the review. It's a big deal that the reviewers have to figure that out for themselves - and there's a chance they are not reviewing what will actually be published.

I can see how that would be confusing. Have you put in a feature request?

I think to date the topics I've had that made heavy use of variables were so complicated that I just gave the QA people who were verifying them a PDF.
