SUMUD resolution passed!

The Synod Assembly just passed our resolution! Jo Ann spoke to introduce it and Pastor Gabi Aelabouni spoke. He and Meghan are both still rostered in our synod and she is being considered in the election for bishop, so they came back to Colorado for the assembly. I am in California, so am reporting what Jo Ann said in our phone call, but I think there were one or two additional speakers and then, because there was no one in line at the microphone to speak agains, the bishop called for a vote and it passed almost unanimously.

The Reference and Counsel committee had made us change a few things, so the title no longer included “ceasefire in Gaza”, but we were able to negotiate keeping a couple of the specific asks of our members of Congress. I’m attaching the resolution as passed and will post some suggestions for advocacy on our page on the synod website and in the weekly emails to congregations - eConnection.
