Dear colleagues,

I would like to kindly remind you of the approaching extended deadline (March 31) for abstract submission to the INQUA Congress, which will take place January 28 - February 3 2027 in India. We warmly encourage you to consider submitting your contributions to our session:

S_059 – Paleosols as indicators of past environments and human impacts
(see attached flyer)
https://www.inquaindia2027.in/sessions/s-059

At present, the congress program includes several closely related sessions. In particular, there are two sessions focused on paleopedology:

  • S_059 – Paleosols as indicators of past environments and human impacts (organized by IUSS Commission 1.6 Paleopedology and the INQUA Paleopedology Working Group)

  • S_016 – Quaternary soils: an important tool for paleoclimatic and archaeological reconstructions
    https://www.inquaindia2027.in/sessions/s-016

To support a strong and cohesive paleosol community and to avoid scheduling overlaps, the Commission and Working Group officers, together with the conveners of session S_059, will reach out to the organizers of session S_016 and the Congress committee to explore the possibility of merging these sessions.

We very much hope to see many of your contributions and to build a vibrant and well-represented paleopedology program at the Congress.

Please also find attached an announcement and invitation to participate in the Dark Earth round tables. I believe this event may be of particular interest to those working in archaeological micromorphology, especially within urban paleoenvironmental contexts.

With best regards,
Maria Bronnikova
